    YouTube - group ride 4/19/09

i tried a different way of rendering the video this time, but it turned out worse.

btw it was the second to the last left in the video where one went down.

Awesome 60 mile ride yesterday! 4 of us total, 3 made it back. The other on a trailer. Probably totaled but mostly cosmetic stuff. Still waiting to hear from him. I think he tore a ligament in his shoulder. Pics to come.

Ahh, yeah, that road has some challenges.

(Larkin... btw Hooks came out & rode with us yesterday. Good to see him again. I forgot he needed gas & made him ride on fumes to the BP.)

    Hey guys,

Im doing good, there were no breaks or fractures of my clavicle, they diagnosed it as a 1st degree ac joint injury (seperated shoulder). Hopefully thats the case and there are no ligament tears. I guess the healing process will tell.

thanks for the vid jay, thats awesome. For everyone else, what the vid doesnt show is Sasquatch coming out to cross the street directly in my path and thus, causing this incident. Way to pick a route hotbrakes!

In all seriousness guys, thanks to jay956, leslie, and hotbrakes for everything, especially hotbrakes as he went home, got his truck, got me some meds, pcked up my bike, and then trailored me home an hour and a half north! I owe you big time bro. you got my number, just me up whenever you need a hand. I'll be there.

As for me, I'm dying to ride again so thats a good sign imo. I have full coverage on the bike and full health coverage so no worries there. I seriosuly doubt the bike is totaled as its brand new and the frame and forks seem fine, not sure about the subframe though. Either way I'ma fix the bike up. get sliders and CF slip ons (why not, the oem exhaust is bent). Will get that same zero grav DB windscreen as I loved it (all 24 hours it was on there). I will also be getting some better gear! not to mention some rider learning material before I try to ride the twisties again.

I'll post pics of the bike once I take em. weather is ugly right now.

As for where the mishap occured, Hottbrakes should know.

    Hey George,

Sorry to read about your mishap. Glad you are relatively OK and hope you will recover quickly, bike can be replaced. Also glad to hear these guys took good care of you, that is awesome. I look forward to meeting up and riding with them in the near future.

In the meantime I will recommend you read Twist of the Wrist II by Keith Code and Total Control by Lee Parks in your down time - good stuff.

    Regards.

    Scott

No Steve, you didn't forget, he forgot he needed gas. How could he possibly need gas before you? He should have got some fluid for his front pogo sticks too. That's exactly what they feel like.

There it is again, Total Control. Great book. Between that and miles under your belt it will transform anyone into an excellent rider.

Glad to hear its just a dislocation. Hopefully everything will fall back into place soon. I'm sure it was a spectacular crash with all the dirt and plastic spraying everywhere and the bike spinning around.

I'm in VA and have been scouring Craigslist for a good deal on a VFR. I know most of you on this thread aren't in the market to sell but maybe someone is or maybe someone knows someone that knows someone that is selling. I rode one several years ago. I think it was a 96 and loved it. Most unique exhaust note on the road. I'm sold on the bike. I used to race in college but I want something comfortable and a little more chill -- but still able to bust through some twisties on a nice day.
Looking to spend under $5K. I have found 96's around $3K. But for a few grand more I can get an 05 -- so...doesn't make much sense to spend $3K and get a bike with 40K miles vs an 05 with about 20K miles or less...
    Thoughts?
Send me some links. I need a bike. Prefer black or silver. I live in charlottesville.
    Thanks guys!

Unfortunately I don't have a SSS stand. I use my centerstand for the VFR. I do have straps hanging from the rafters though. I'm pretty free Saturday if you want to ride over and put it on in my garage.

As for riding Sunday, I'm kinda turned off the group thing right now cause of this past Sunday's accident. Just gonna ride with some guys I've know for years on roads we've been riding as long. No offense to anyone here, but I don't want to feel responsible for others. When I get in the zone I go at my own pace which is too fast for people riding a road for the first time.

Jay- get some people together, you know plenty of roads down here, and after keeping up Sunday I think you could show them around at a decent pace. Gimme a call tomorrow afternoon if you want to come over Saturday. Might let you try out my gear driven cam bike. Need to get some dust off her anyway.
