I have never been to a trial before. I am representing myself. Does anyone know in a california trial am I allowed to call the other parties witnessess to the stand? or am I only allowed to cross examine?

uh, don't take this the wrong way but you've heard the old saying " only a fool represents himself". you should ask for a continuence /or postponement and get a Public defender..... knowing nothing about how the law works is the quickest way to lose.

    take it easy bro

I appreciate it bro, but this isnt criminal law, its family law. Custody issues, pro se is expected. I just want to be fully prepared.

Request a continuance. You are not prepared. If the opposition is represented you will end up with the short end of the stick.

Don't blame you for not wanting a lawyer, but sometimes it's the prudent thing to do. The stench will wear off in time.

I hate to say this but if you're asking a motorcycle forum for legal advice then the odds aren't in your favor. Have you checked out nolo.com? They have some legal info.

thanks all, first day went great! I even got an objection sustained against the other side. Also, I got someone to reverse their testimony in my favor and agree with my cause after seeing some facts. But I wont lie I was nervous and it was the longest 4 hours I can remember. I got two more mondays to go!

I feel for you bro. Custody hearings are never an enjoyable experience. Just hope the best for your kid or kids comes out in the end. Good luck
