Well, 5, if you count the mod work on my VTEC...

    1- 1983 VF750F restore
    2- 1986 VFR700F custom/restore
    3- Supermoto project - 500cc Ascot thumper into a Yamaha IT490 frame w/ VF1000R forks & CBR600F3 wheels
4- switch my F4i from track duty back to street so it can be sold
5- install my winter mods on my '05 VTEC

Earlier this year I finished restoring my Dad's 1976 BMW R60/6.

Oh, and I'm also currently repairing an 07 ZZR600 for a friend. And doing other bike-related side work.

My wife is great like that, she knows I need it to stay sane. Besides, I just tell her I'm better off in the garage than out & about getting into trouble!

That sounds like me. Before the bike I would just randomly take crap apart at the house. My wife would come home and I'd be like, "don't go in the bedroom yet unless you really want to get mad".

Matt or Seb, I have a wiring harness question. On my 87, in the area of the brake light, I have a 2 wire plug that looks like a B/W and a B/G wire. Looking at my wiring diagram I can't figure out what the hell it is.

I don't think reliability will be an issue. That normally is based on the parts not how there configured, and what's more reliable then a VFR motor?

With reliability, yeah what superfex said, VFR engines are lengendary for lasting 100K miles before needing a complete rebuild. My only concern really is the structural integrity of mounting a 5th gen motor onto a 1st gen frame. It's not fun twisting your throttle and having your engine flying out of the bike.

I saw a few 800 engines on e-bay yesterday. you haven't bought one yet?? My advice is to buy a donor bike that has the electrics , harness, throttle bodies, air box etc. Otherwise buying it all bit by bit is going to cost you too much.

well guy i've run into a snag in my plans, if i Continue on the course i set out on i'll have at least 3,000 grand in this project and i need to cut back on my spending! and i'm not going to let a good bike go to waste so it will be going back together with its stock motor ill do a few suspension mods to it and some wheels but i cannot go wild like i wanted :frown: oh well, sorry to dissappoint people.
