Sidi Vortice boot question?

Hello, I am looking for some feedback from some more expierenced riders. My question is about some sidi boots.

I may have messed up last month: I had a pair of brand new sidi vertigo corsa airs that I got for $200.00 but I thought they were a little big (not sure because I have never owned a pair of these), so I sent them back to get the size I had actually ordered (they sent me the wrong size). Well it turned out they did not have my size so they refunded my money.

I spoke with them again and now they offered to sell me a pair of the new sidi vortice boots (air or reg.) for $300.00 and they can order my size.

My question is would these boots be okay for everyday commute to work or would they just be a pain and not as good a choice as another boot? I change out shoes at work everyday anyway and I was thinking of it from a safety aspect as well as the price. I know they are really a track/race boot and I am still a fairly new rider no track days planned for at least a little while. Any thoughts????

Another question would be getting the air vs the regular boot.

I have a pair of the Sidi Vertigo Corsa black boots and I totally love them and would not trade them for any other boots. I've tried on 10's of different boots and none fit me as well as the Vertigo's. I use them for everyday riding during our riding season. Are they a little over the top for everyday road use, yes. But have just one get-off and your feet will thank you. These are very well engineered boots and very, very adjustable.

As for the air versus regular boils down to perforation holes. If I was riding in a hot zone, year around, I would have taken the airs. But since I'm riding in Canada I opted for the regular because they are a little warmer because of no holes. But they still have great ventilation with the adjustable vent holes. As well, the perforation holes allow any rain inside the boots. So if you ride in the rain a lot, I would not recommend the airs. It's personal preference and riding location.

I highly recommend the Vertigo boots. A little different than the Vortice model but I'm sure they are very similarly designed. :thumbsup:

+2, i love my corsas, i wear them while commuting. i dont have the airs but ive found them to still be well ventilated, so i dont wear them if its in the low 50's or below.

 

Where are you guys finding the SIDI Vertigo Corsa's for $200? Everywhere I have looked they have been $300

I had been watching e-bay and one afternoon when I checked They had 3 pairs listed for $199.99, sizes 11, 10 and a 9.5. I knew it was a good deal so I jumped on it and ordered the 9.5's. The box was marked 9.5 but the boots were actually the 10's. They thought they could get me the 9.5's so I sent them back but unfortunatly they didn't and so they just refunded my money.

I actually thought about keeping the 10's they sent me and just buying the 9.5's also(which that they ended up not having). I was thinking I could list the 10's here for someone else to get a deal too but unfortunatley I didn't have the funds at the time to do both.

They were very easy to work with and I called them back again the other day to see what else they had. He had one pair of sidi vertigo (not corsa) in red for like 150 or he said he could order me the sidi vortice and he would let me have them for 300. I really didn't want the red boots, seems kinda "loud" for me but the vortice boots look like a little bit of a pain to put on. I think he is just making this offer to try and make things "right" for their mix up on the sidi vertigo corsa's I had previously orderd.

Big question is: sidi vertigo's or sidi vortice for around a $100 to a $150 dollar difference. Main use is communiting and eventually some track days.

 

For every day use you should choose somethig more confy, but if you're lokking for effective protection i think sidi vertigo corsa are good boots!

i got my corsas for about $250 about a month ago fro newenough.com when they were on closeout, i dont think they have them anymore

 

They had 3 pairs.... They were very easy to work with......Who is they? And IMO the Vortice (09) and the Vertigo's(08) are Sidi's most protective boot, great for track and aggressive road riding but may be a little overkill for commuting.

 

Sorry for using the "They" term so much. I wasn't sure if I should use his name or the name of his company with out talking to him first. I plan on talking to him later today and I will see if its okay to put out his name then. I will also check and see if he is willing to extend this offer to everyone or if it is just a one time deal. I was hoping to get a little more feedback before talking to him. I was okay spending the $200 on good boots but when it jumped up to $300 for the New (2009) vortice boots I got a little more gun shy. I know this is still a very good price because everywhere I check they want $475 for the vortice. He can't get the vertigo corsa anymore but he can still get me the regular vertigo for $150 to $200. So my real delima is deciding if it is worth the extra $100 for the vortice (which aparently is harder to put on too) since I will really be using them for communiting mainly.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I don't have alot of extra $ so this is a big decision for spending vs safety vs comfort and all.
