    I am looking at a matt black 2004 non-abs w/29k miles for $4700.-
Only option is a Givi screen. Supposedly valves have been checked once by dealership but bike still has original chain sprockets and pads.
    What say ye?
    OR;
local dealer has a trade in (no warranty) 2007 WRB w/ cases and 600 miles for $7500
    OR
    1999 red w/ 11k miles for $4000
    Decisions..............

    Okay, I'll stir the turd......

    GEAR DRIVEN CAMS!!!!!

Although the 5th gens will be better supported for parts and aftermarket.

I do have to say, however. "I love the sound of gear driven cams in the morning. Sounds like victory"

Did I mention the 1999 will have gear driven cams?

Hmm, tough choices. Decent prices on all but yea, I'd go with the 5g.

Well if you're looking for the best bike of the three......Everyone on this forum is pretty much in agreance that the fifth gen is by far the fastest and best VFR ever made.

But.....all joking aside.....they all seem like decent buys. I would take a look/ride of each and see which one YOU like best.

That '99 is way below blue book, with ridiculously low miles for a 10 year old bike. As long as its in reasonably good shape I'd take the 5th gen.

I would take the above but I'm a bit biased. The cases alone are $900 and 600 miles is squat.

have you ever driven an 02+ vfr?
the sound that the bike makes during the vtec trasition is hair raising, bone chilling, spine tingling... theres nothing else like it in the motorcycle world.
im not trying to put down the gear driven earlier vfrs, im just saying they are both equally beautiful sounds. when dealing with vfr's i dont think vtec/gear driven arguement gets anywhere, because its not a win/loose situation... its a win/win.

Definately the 5th gen if it is in decent shape and not a rebuilt or salvage titled bike - great price and really low miles.

This from a dude who runs from cops and bites the heads off chickens (allegedly)

Tough choices.. Right now dealers ain't having great sales. Do your homework on valuation, insist on seeing all records and provenance and wheel and deal with the dealers. If the sales guy tells you any different or tries to shuck and jive you about having his best second, moment, day, week, month or even year and he doesnt look you right in the eyeball you got him. (or her)

Are you sure? I think its the 4th gen!LOL! But I may sound suspicious...
But, anyway, since you dont have a 4th gen in the list I would prefer the 5th gen...why???...Gear driven camshafts! thats why!

I bought my '04 for $6k in the fall of 2007 with only 400 miles on it. I bought it from a guy that was going through a divorce and needed the cash quick.............. I hope that gives a little perspective. The '04 is an awesome bike, too!!! :wedgie:

I also am biased, but I paid $9k for my new '07 RWB ABS in December, so to save $1500 and get free hard bags is a screaming deal to me- provided you care about the hard bags, if you don't just sell them to someone on here for $400 or so and you can lower the price further.

I'm pretty stubborn when I shop for a bike, and miles is at the top of the list in consideration. - Look at the 5gen or the newer almost no mile 6gen.

    - Of course I'm biased but I would jump all over that 5th gen. Good miles, low price.
