It's a Piaggio MP3. 500CC, CVT trans. And as you can see, two wheels in front, and one in the rear. He also has a Gold Wing, but he likes this for short trips.

Why the two tires in front? What do they do? Looks like a compressed Can AM.

Remember... when you're on it together, it's only gay if you look each other in the eye...

.. I'm just messing with u of course. I am curious as to why he decided on that thing versus just getting a small bike to zip a round on for short trips. I guess they have their niche in the market, but it seems like the niche is having something of an oddity rather than function. I'll have to go read up on it... I don't know much about them.

I remember reading about these...forget where. But the whole idea behind the two wheels is to have a more stable platform for people who are afraid of standard cycles. The front wheels can be locked into the vertical position at a stop with a button and you can unlock them with the button or they will unlock as soon as you hit a certain speed. I thought it was an interesting concept, but with looks only a mother could love...it's definitely not for me.

I've read good things about these in the motorcycle rags.
While I wouldn't consider one, I see the appeal. Anything that gets or keeps enthusiasts on two (or three) wheels is cool by me. I'd like to check one out first hand.
