So do you bite the heads off chickens too? Do you have fantasys about having carnal relations with male or female police? Both? YIKES!

...and now to my buddy KC who is all hot about most things.

We find that Cro-Magnons had some social order and perhaps eidetic awareness of symbolism. They are also thought to have buried thier dead. Spelling IMO, was not part of the deal, so not to worry.

    Point one:

Police Officers like both Officers and Enlisted in the armed services for the most part do not operate as independent units. An example might be that it would not be you who makes the major flight decisions while in the air. Chain of command. Consequently IMO, you have only supposition to go by as to why you and your friend were stopped. As one possible scenario, you may have been "persons of interest" the officers on duty were made aware of at roll call.

    Point two:

IMO, your self appointed role as some sort of spokesperson for The USAF sucks.

This part of the post is for "IANJOUB"

I'm glad you see things the way you do. Based on the info in your profile, you live very very close to where I work as a LEO. I don't know if you read the paper, but on 02/05/09 @ 2305hrs I stopped a young man for running 80+mph through my patrol area (45mph zone) Well he didn't stop right away, I was behind him for about 2 almost 3 miles. when he did finally pull over he immediately laid his head down on the barrel of the SKS rifle that was between his legs and put one round straight through his forehead and out the back of his skull. He was less than one month into his 18th year of life. His reason (as we can only assume due to his inability to answer any question anyone may have had) was that he had committed a hit and run in the town you list as home.He struck a 22 yr old mother of one who was vacationing, as she walked along a dirt road. he had been drinking with a friend and left her for dead in the grass on the roadside.
Why do I post this information? Well who would have stopped this young man if I had not? A private citizen? you perhaps, or maybe our friend from NYC EMON07? Am I looking for accolades, or sympathy? Not a chance, it's all part of the job I CHOOSE to do.
So traffic enforcement is a corrupt government waste of time? Public safety is obviously not big on the list of what you or others may find important. Ponder this, IF i had not been doing traffic enforcement, IF that young man had gotten to wherever it was he was going, IF he had some other notion as to the use of that weapon. What then? a mass killing by a disturbed youth who thought he had nothing too loose? Only one person knows that answer, and he's not talking.
The other LEOs on this board will verify that what happened on my traffic stop was a once in a career event (for most cops) but it won't keep us from doing what we do, unless the cut of the LEOs jib isn't what it should be. I only mention this to pose the previous questions. BTW... if you would like to actually have lunch with a cop that may change your outlook on law enforcement personnel, I'll meet you at that little Cuban themed restaurant on Kings Bay in Crystal River anytime, OR that little place at the end of Ozello trail.

Part II is for EMON07, I too am college educated, an Army vet, as well as being gainfully employed with no criminal record. How do we differ with the exception of ethnicity? (BTW I think you resemble Samuel L Jackson!) We both love to ride, I was a MC safety course instructor as well. I also extend the same invitation to you as I have IANJOUB, we I am sure would have a great time, and enjoy some good conversation. Your idea of a cop would change as well. We are not all cut from the same cloth as those four who killed Diallo, nor are we anymore alike than the 3 cops who sodomized Michael Mineo. The officers whose actions are reprehensible to ALL including (most of all) the GOOD cops out here, the ones who TRULY want to make a difference and protect and serve paint us all with the same broad stroke in the court of public opinion, sad but true as is blindingly obvious. In spite of ALL that I still am DAMN proud to put on my uniform EVERYDAY I go on duty as are my son, estranged wife (she pointed out that she HAS NOT signed any papers yet so she still is my wife!) and present G.F (I actually DO NOT have a current G/F nor did I when this post was orig. put up!) who are proud to have me in their lifes. My basic point is this, understanding for what we are tasked to do, limit the hatred of the BADGE, it is worn by mere mortal men, flaws and all.

it ain't illegal if I have done nothing - a cop chasing a person for no reason is a fool. Just like I said and you guys are only proving me correct.

First of all. I would like to thank those people who are police officers. It is a thankless and sometimes dangerous job and we should try to change that. So Thanks.
I used to be a young lunatic racing around always speeding. I got my share of tickets. Everyone deserved and paid. As I matured (got older and smarter) I decided that these run ins with LEOs were my own fault and I could control my own behavior. I have always treated LEOs with respect which they deserve.
I have also been given warnings when I didn't deserve them. Once early on a Sunday Morning me and my buddy were speeding down a basically deserted street in the city of New Orleans . we were pulling up to a stop light and I happened to look in my mirror and there was a police Car with its lights flashing way off in the distance coming up behind us. you could hear that Police Interceptor engine screaming. to make this shorter he caught us at the light pulled us over ran our info. yelled at us for ten minutes, told us to get out of his precinct and never come back. He did not know how fast we were going, No radar in his car but he knew he wouldn't have caught us had we not stopped for the light. He did ask us why we stopped. we both said well sir the light was red. He let us go. I thought it was gonna cost me about a grand to take care of this plus my wife was gonna kill me. So like every profession there are good and bad in them all.

    so thanks again

PS How Fast were we going? 140 in a 35. Stupid I know but it was deserted we were having fun. I know none of you LEO's ever speed on your bikes either, huh.

Wow, look what I missed while I was at work today.

I was thinking, up until right now, that this particular website had a low percentage of adzholes posting, compared to other sites I've lurked in before. Boy was I wrong.

I'm 46 years old. I've been ridding bikes since I was 10, and have been riding on the street since I was 14 when I've got my scooter license. I've had my MC endorsement since I was 16.

I've been pulled over lots of times, for various reasons. he vast majority of the time, since I am respectful of people who risk their life to keep the peace, I've been let off. Only once was I pulled over for something I actually wasn't guilty of, and the Officer let me off after we discussed it for a while. I have only had sharp words with an Officer one time, a young state trooper who pulled me over for expired tags on my truck (2 weeks). He was being pretty agressive and was making my 1 year old son cry. I asked him to tone it down, and he told me that he'd talk any way he wanted to. Thats when I got out of the truck, walked up to him and told him that he better stop scaring my kid or he'd be hearing from my attorney within 24 hours. He backed off, and later apologised. No hard feelings, he had a tough job and I'm sure it wears on one after a while. He let me off, by the way.

So, for all you folks who seem to have lots of trouble with the law, perhaps you should take a long hard look in the mirror to find the source of your troubles. I'm not saying there aren't crooked cops, because good lord I live in Arkansas and we have plenty of Barney Fife's here. Show a little respect. Do you really think that the cop on the beat decides to do an 'operation generate revenue'? No, he/she is told to do it, and if they want to keep their job they do it. If you have a problem with that, then pay a little more attention to who you vote for in the next election.

And for all you folks who have had violent things to say about LEO's, I think you suck, and need to go live somewhere like Iran where you can get a REAL taste of what its like to live in a police state. You are nothing but a bunch of spoiled little prcks. And you also need to be aware that terroristic threatning is a felony, and that the mere fact you posted something to this site makes you easily identifiable (I'm an IT security professional, trust me, I know..).

There, I ain't pissed off anymore.

    Regards,
    H.C.D.

My issues are more one of fustration than anything else (also being a black man makes you a target for no reason - that is just life I guess). Another part of the problem is political and the orders that are being issued to cops to perform (my opinion). I have gotten so tired of being stopped and detained for no reason (illegally), and having to endure rude and abrupt behavior from a cop for no reason. Most cops I have been approached by want a reason to justify physical actions or a monetary attack with unecessary tickets. The funny thing is I have run from the cops without speeding or doing anything crazy. When I am in NYC, I generally frequent areas I am familiar with and know where to hide so I do not have to go through any type of dangerous chase scene. Also, if I am in the right area, I know how to get to the airport so I can stash my bike. I have been out for a ride and stopped to eat only to find a cop car in front of my bike waiting for me to come so they can hassle me while I am parked - now that is ridiculous. I have an issue with the idiots who are masquerading as cops and taint the image of a real Law Enforcement Agent. I do not need protection, I am not a criminal or engaging in criminal acts, I am just an older dude who just wants to be left alone and I conduct myself accordingly so there is no reason to bother me. Oh yeah I get the Samuel Jackson resembelence thing a lot - wish that would help lol.

And one more thing. When I see members of our esteemed military forces saying things that I've seen said in this thread, it makes me want to pick up the phone and call a couple of retired USAF people that I happen to know. They would not be pleased. Stop dishonoring that uniform and our Country.

See? Was that so hard. Your opinion has been noted & given the proper attention it deserves. That is not an insult, I am simply trying to understand this from your point of view even though you have zero intention of considering mine in the slightest. I have no problem with giving credit where it's do or admiting I'm wrong. The only problem is all I hear in this thread is, "We're cops, we're right & everyone of you is wrong & it's because we cops say so." Sorry, I don't buy that for a minute.

I never claimed to be any kind of spokesman for anything. All I am is consistent with my opinions & views on things. If you don't like them, that's what the "Ignore" button is for.

I also ask this, if we were in fact "person's of interest" (or substitute the correct term) why weren't we made aware of that fact? No matter what any LEO wants to tell me, if I am suspected of anything, I have the right to know that in order to prepare my defense.

If you're talking about me, the least you could do is man up & come right out & say it.

Call anyone you wish. There is not one thing here I would not say to anyone I work with.

This is where I ask why it's perfectly OK for you to insult or bash me but it's not OK for me to have a US Constitutionally protect opinion on a subject?

I'm done with this thread. I have stated my case & I really don't see any further reason to continue. Have a nice day.

Wow... what a thread this has turned into, lol.

Bad things happen to good people. That's just how it is. I would never say I hate an entire group of people b/c of a few bad apples. If I did that, I don't think there'd be anyone left for me to like! One day I may need one of them in some capacity. It's better not to burn bridges... especially with an emotional fire versus a rational one.

I've had cops give me a hard time in the past... harder than I felt was warranted. It felt like they had a medical condition that I call LDS... Little D*ck Syndrome. But it's like the bully in school. If you let it get to you and he sees the reaction he wants from you, he gets off on it and in his head he's winning b/c you're giving him the reaction he wants - and thus he'll keep doing it.

The one thing I find most ironic is I've always been taught (and thought) that with age comes wisdom. Frankly, I have higher expectations for someone like Emon than some of the young bucks running around the forum (no insult to the young bucks... it's an experience thing :) ). Maybe my expectations are misplaced. When dealing with the police or any other legal stuff, the best thing you can ever do is know your rights.

A buddy of mine is a lawyer and I mentioned this thread to him. He told me the only thing you are obligated to do when an officer stops you is provide ID if requested b/c you have to be able to ID yourself anytime, anywhere, preferably with a drivers license since it's a government-issued form. After that, simply comply with any physical request(s) the officer makes, like get out of the car, etc. Don't ask why, just do it and don't say a word. Beyond that, you can choose what to share/not share... i.e. you do not have to say a word the entire time. You don't have to answer any questions... nothing. He said he's seen people get themselves into trouble when they get pulled by one of the a-holes and they get into a verbal battle with the cop which then escalates and ends up getting them into trouble. Then you have the folks that say, "Well, I don't have to do sh*t. I'll just sue their ass*s." Oh yeah? Ever try that? It's not a fast nor cheap process. And the smaller the town, the less chance of winning in the end. It's best not to even let the situation escalate to that level in the first place.

Discretion is a wonderful thing. Most of the time, the guy is out there doing his job just like the rest of us when we go to work. You know pretty quickly if it's a legit stop (you know if you were doing something wrong) or if it's probably b.s. Let the officer set the tone for the encounter and react accordingly.

When folks look at what's causing their troubles long enough, eventually they'll conclude the only common thread in all of their troubles is.... them. (If they're honest with themselves). It's easier to place blame than it is to hold one's self accountable.

Saying stuff like, "I hope their whole family dies, etc," just isn't right. I know it's an opinion, and that's fine. But remember: Karma's a b*tch.

I have re-evaluated my position, concur with your findings and agree; they are all after you. Best of luck.

    Skeeter,

Whew..I was afraid there for just a sec that some of those cops were Mormons.

Well, the Supreme Court has held in Hiibel v. Sixth Judicial District Court of Nevada that you must provide ID, which in most states is only verbally identifying yourself. You do not have to show a driver's license unless you are driving or in a motor vehicle. I get stopped all the time late at night walking around and I never show ID, even if asked. You can't lie to the cops, but know what your rights are.

Biker police here(u/k) know where the best biker runs are, they wait ,with a camera, and pull em in.
Daft thing is, i know of a biker cop that takes groups of riders on trips through fast runs and goes way over the limits with a trail of guys behind while he shows the best lines through the bends,no one can catch him and his own bike is a bmw gs!
So, probably the next day he will be out with his police bike with a camera pulling them in! Strange init??

WOW! I tried to stay away and was ok with that right up until I saw the post about killing me, my family and my dog. I wasn't singled out, but cops in general. What do my family or dogs have to do with my job?
As far as cops being cowards? I serve high risk warrants every week on drug dealers. I'm on the entry team and half the time we have no idea what is waiting for us inside the residence. My fellow officers walk up to vehicles during traffic stops, not knowing if the person will cooperate, be a jerk, or shoot them. We aren't heroes, we are simply people doing a job that sometimes requires us to put ourselves in harms way. It isn't bravery that leads me to do these things, it's a sense of duty. The true heroes are my wife and children, who watch me gear up for a raid, or grab my gear and run out of the house to back up guys on a dangerous call. They don't know if I'm coming home, but they are proud of me and what I do, and know that If I don't go, others might suffer. My family has gotten calls from the hospital when I didn't come home at the end of my shift. The cowards are the people who hide behind their computers and talk about how bad they are.
I didn't become a cop because I have an inferiority complex and need a badge to be a man. I do my job to make my community a better place and to protect those who can't protect themselves whether it be directly or indirectly.
You went to college? So what? I teach at a local college. I am a state certified instructor, firearms instructor, and taser instructor. I have written classes on interview and interrogation and small unit tactics. I may not be the smartest person in the group, but I'm far from stupid and uneducated.(this seems to be another of the cop generalizations on this board.)

If you wish me, my brother officers, or our families harm, fine. Wish all you want. But if you ever think of acting on it , be prepared to reap the consequences of your actions.
I put forth my maximum effort every day without much regard for personal safety. I go all out, just like I did in the Marines and in business. When is the last time some of you ever risked anything?
    I'm done ranting.
    Be safe

I don`t want to be a cop, must be like you feel you have to battle all day with rowdy criminals, drunks, drugys, speeders,(bikers).
Then you gotta stand your corner to justify your job to the general public who seem to also resent you?
Think i`ll stay in the motor trade,if a car f---s me off ,i`ll just kick it!
But then i`ll have to repair it again!!!

I agree with derstuka. I agree that enforcing the law is extremely important, but, this cop is mistaken concerning his position and needs to me reminded by his superiors. Accountability is obviously lacking in his workplace, because this sounds like pure harassment.

actually, rules vary state to state. I'm a cop in GA. all we need is approval of a supervisor.. and since i am one... all i have to do is approve the location and the intent... and in some cases monitor which i dont necessarily have to be on site for. in my area, we dont just arbitrarily make up a reason to do a roadside check. there is usually a time and area that we intend to show a presence and be a deterent to some activity.

as to the original poster... although he comes from "across the pond", the attitude to (and from) law enforcement is another matter. the US is too ate up in this "community oriented" crap. we are all human. if the law states that (because i'm a cop) i have to take a load of crap from a citizen, i dont see why we can't give some back. i defend the consitution... but nowhere in the constitution does it say you have the right to be free of insult from someone expressing their freedom of speech. i see it both ways....

while at work, i am courteous and professional.... i try to stick to the "do unto others" theme. what is stated above is my personal opinion. in 13 years of law enforcement, i have kept the professional actions and personal opinions remain separated. ;)

as to how we look at bikes?
we usually see em from behind.
in truth... i make it a point that when i DO stop a biker who is acting the fool, i give them hell about it. i make it a point to indicate that i too am a bike owner and am insulted personally by their actions at that particular time. very few leave with papers in their pockets, but i hold no shame in giving them an ear full in any case. i like to ride my bike, but there is a time and place for everything.

sure. the human factor... there are some cops that are total horses asses.. i work with a couple of them. its nice to see that there is mostly an ability to realize that all cops are not moronic fools, though. thanks.
