AMD 6400+ 64 Bit X2 and thermaltake typhoon heatsink with 4 gb of corsair matched ddr2 an Asus geforce 8800 GT 1GB ddr3 on a KN9 Sli motherboard from ABIT, 4 250gb hard drives DVD and CD RW, 600 Watt modular power supply and a 24 inch monitor to look at things.

As for alien ware it is cheaper to build your own get a barbones MB, processor, case kit from tiger direct.

I'm running an Asus M50S 15.4" notebook with 2.5 Ghz(T9300) Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo, 500GB HDD, HD Radeon 3650 Graphics card, 4GB RAM, and sloppy Vista.

Alienware and Dell are a waste of money. They overcharge you big time. Asus, which you've probably never heard of, is one of the largest OEM motherboard manufacturers in the world. They make high quality products without charging arm and a leg prices(unless you buy their top of the line mobo's...those have gone up in the last 4 years SUBSTANTIALLY).

    Check out ASUS here: LINKY

I bought mine from Newegg in June and haven't been more satisfied with a retail pc ever(I've built my last 3 desktops myself).

Asus is great I love all their products. All my mobos are either asus, ABIT or MSI. I went ABIT this time because toms hardware and newegg had better reviews than the Asus equivalent model.

Yep, its that time of year for the "can't ride so I'm going to start a thread" season!:deadhorse::tongue2:

OK fine, Apple iMac 24" 2008 Edition with 2.4G processor, 4 Gig of ram, video editing with Final Cut Pro, wireless networked to 2 other Mac's in the house, with wireless music capability in any room in the house. A real MAN's computer!

I build computers for a living working for a small OEM, so I use a lot of machines to go on this site.

My home computer is old because even though I build machines, I'm broke:

    EVGA 680i SLI
    4GB Kingston 1066 DDR2
    E8400
    EVGA 9600GT
    Western Digital 500AAKS.
Some super off-brand 600watt PSU that I paid 30 dollars for that's still trucking after 2 years. I really expected this PSU to take out my mobo a long time ago and give me an excuse to build a new rig.

It's basic, but it gets the job done, I don't really play games anymore so it's just a nice stable rig.

Though I think next up is an i7 920 build,

    ASUS P6T Deluxe

    6GB Kingston HyperX 2000mhz
    GTX 285
    Seasonic 850watt PSU
    WD 640GB (I'm cheap)

I got a copy of vista ultimate retail free (legitimately) so I've already got a 64 bit OS on lockdown.

Gotta love the perks of the business. I remember in community college I could get all sorts of software for <$20 including xp for 12 bucks then. I know UofM allows their engineering students FIVE copies of XP. I think it was two physical discs or just the product keys...but man that was nice.

My vista didn't come from work, it was actually microsoft's Live search game from a few years back where they gave you prizes to play games. Everyone (including myself) just botted the games to get points and redeemed them for top prizes. So, technically, I didn't get it 100% legit, but the copy in and of itself is a legitimate full retail vista ultimate with 32 and 64 bit discs.

Our Microsoft rep does send us free copies of Vista at times. Though we usually use them internally.

A 3-year old Hell Latitude D820 / 2.0Ghz notebook. This will be the last Hell computer that I purchase. These machines have components that are programmed to fail so that the user is forced to replace components from time to time. I've been through three batteries already.

Next notebook for me is an Apple MacBook Pro this Fall.

Funny you should ask. I just purchased a new, top-of-the-line iMac with Leopard OS 10.5, 24" high resolution screen, 1 terabyte of storage (unbelievable), wireless, etc. Also added an iPhone Touch with 32 GB of storage.

This is my first Apple computer, and I'm just beginning to feel my way around it after so many years with a Dell PC and Microsoft Windows, but from the first moment I fired up this iMac I've been impressed and amazed.

The iMac is quite a machine, and quite a beautiful and elegantly sculptured piece of industrial art as well. The fit, finish, and build quality is first rate-- a finely machined aluminum frame, exquisite glass, and the hard drive is contained within the monitor itself.

I have a Mac Book Pro (bad name...) and in no small part since I wrestle Windows for a living I really appreciate OS X from an esthetic point of view, among other things. Apple is good at that sort of thing... and I have a iPhone too, that's completely amazing.

    Apple iBook G4.

And a POS Dell at work. (If I didn't have Microsoft software crashing all the time I might not have a job!)

When you use both, it is very clear how advanced Apple is...
