Ahhh the first decent sunny day last sunday!
    Gear on,gleaming bike,new helmet, let`s GO!
    MMMMM , great! then,
I did not seem to notice the gatso cameras when lumbering along in a car, now they seem to stand out like howitsers aiming at me from the sidewalk, and the biker cops seem to know when the roads will be busy with winter frustraited bikers and are patroling with pronounced head movements as we go by giving us scouring looks.
The fast winding runs have 2 cop bikes waiting with mobile cameras at the best part of the road, can our biking brothers be so cruel?
Then the sunday afternoon drivers!-- roads full of grandads in their cars which normally only gets used for a supermarket run all year, confused as how to make turns on strange roads!
Pass them , here we go! !! then ,40mph limit leading into 30mph into a 20mph, back out to a 30 then a 40mph,then we are allowed to go 50!!
for 1 mile back to 40 !!! Zumo bleeping at me non stop in my helmet for limits and cameras!
Scrores of bikers out all looking like they need a damn good rip up for a hour or so ,only to be seen limping along using 10% of their power!
    help! -----
Anyone know of any good runs where the police don`t live?
So much throttle and so little wrist movement!
I better start planning a French trip!! anyone interested?

Gatso? Huh?.. Police right? (best foghorn leghorn voice) Well I say, I say boy, you ought to get off that island and come over here, I say. We have many many places with no gatso, so you can go bonzo.

At least you got to ride. Mine's still apart for maintenance.

    I appreciate the offer:biggrin:

But I think you Brits need to step up your campaign of terror on the Gatso's yourselves. You need to get downright Bin Laden on those things! The supreme mullah of motorcycles needs to issue a fatwa on those infedel devices!

Those things sound like they are placed every three feet or something:crazy: I'm waiting for the British government to start using Gatsos to bust people who are walking too fast! Gotta ask WTH?

Seems easy enough to sneak up behind them with your :ninja: suit on and hang a tire on it, then light that tire on fire!!!!

    LOL!

We have a lot of cameras in South Africa because the cops are too friggin' lazy to get up off their butts and do any visible policing. Revenue generation is all it is. I've often wondered why no-one has taken a pickup with a massive bullbar and mown the cameras down! Just a thought, use it, don't use it.

Good to see a UK post, this is the first one I've come across since I joined vfrworld!
I am really desperate to go over and see the Milau bridge, I have been trying to persuade the missus we should do it in the summer, the difficulty is getting her to come round to the idea that she doesn't need two suitcases full of clothes! Have you ever ridden in France before? I hear the roads are so much better than the crap we get here? Do you know what mods, if any, are required to go cross-channel - perhaps just headlight alignment?

It is a major re-fit job. You have to modify your bike so that it is right hand drive.

sgd , yup gone to france a few times, good fun, stick to the a's and d's and give the freeways a miss, a'sand d's are a blast.. gives you a chance to get that red thing up to above 10rpm where it gets interesting, roads are great as a french people and french drivers mostly. its a must once the weathers a little warmer, good luck and enjoy.

Yea, done it a few times, takes a bit of planning ,sorting some hotels on route.
Ibis hotels were quite good, book em in advance then gives you a goal to aim for most days.
Bike all day, then back for beers and comfort then up for more biking! sod the camping!
The toll roads are straight and boring but the old roads are cool!
You will notice the difference as soon as you ride off the ferry------ A few miles from the port and all seems strange:confused: the roads seem empty with no police, no cameras ,just a few which are pre marked.
Miles of roads with great scenery ,no cars, brill french cafes when on route. And you can park anywhere
You better brush up on your French!!!!

Peut-être vous voudriez arriver ensemble avec certains plus de propriétaires vfr et laissez vont!

How to beat the cameras. Use infrared leds. most cameras use infrared. I've wanted to do this for license plate frames. Can't read the plate then. check it out. Just might work.

As much as I do not support Speed Cameras, (100% behind intersection cameras) I clearly see "Obstruction" here. While this will probably work well, I would be wary of the consequences. I think that in most jurisdictions, any alteration or hampering with the licence plate is a specific offence and could lead down a path you don't want to go.

I had 7 weeks in France a few years back, the ride down from LeHarve to Toulouse was brilliant. Used a and d roads all the way. At one time I thought that the road was closed, no traffic for 10 mins. Most of the French drivers are good with bikes, pull over to let you pass etc. I even had a police car pull right over and wave me past!!!! The french rides don't wave, they stick a leg out!

Here in Cyprus we don't have GATSOS-- at the moment, there is talk of introducing them. They just have mobile cameras, mostly on the motorways and in towns. Fine by me. So many riders here are "squids" (t shirts, flip-flops, shorts, helmet on elbows) that if you are dressed in all the gear, you are usually waved by if caught speeding.

With so many shotguns on the island, we will see how long the fixed cameras last.
