This is the best Vfr I have seen. It looks awesome, great color but the real kicker is the custom supercharger that gives it 160hp!!:vtr2:

Like you I had a VF500 clocking over 80,000 miles on the wee beastie as a despatch rider in london. Got a VFR750 1994 version 8 months ago and commute on it. Haven't ridden other VFR's so can't comment but wouldn't swap mine. Much easier to do basic maintenance than many of the myths would have you believe and still fairly basic compared to contemporary bikes, ie carbs and electronics. Not too bad on changing plugs, no need to remove tank, just side panels and swing radiator forwards.

IMO the best possible VFR would be whichever one you happen to own at any given time.

I love all VFRs (only like the 6 Gen VFR lol), but the best VFR is mine because I own it and get to ride it. Nothing is better than that to me.

    COMPARO??

An '86 700 is a growly, roarty, vibe-shakin' beast of a real MOTORCYCLE, while a gen 4 is a refined, totally smooth, well-behaved, almost invisible kitchen APPLIANCE showing NO STRAIN to do what the '86 does but better in every way.......
    but without the soul!!

WELL, it seems to have less character than an '86 because of abundant over-refinement.

    WOW! I wasn't just crying, I swear!

Of coarse the sixth gen is the best, because its mine. Other than that, the only other bike I could imagine parked next to mine in my driveway, would be that gordgeous pearl white 93 with a high mount. That bike has a look to it that would still look amazing fifty years from now.

No disputing the VFR Gen 1's charater it has it in buckets. Funny thing each new varient of the VFR brought out the same comments as each proceeding new model.

When going to the Gen 3 some complained it was too fat and soft, when the Gen 5 came out some Gen 4 owners wrote it was ugly and wasn't as sporty as the Gen 4 even though the Gen 5 was lighter, faster and better handling. Oddly enough have read some say the Gen 5 Mk2 had squashed some of the Gen 5's character by adding the cat and subtly retuning some harshness from the forks.

When the Gen 6 came out at least all the older Gen owners forgot their differences to gang up declaring the Gen 6 had no character and was too soft even though in most ways (VTec excluded) it is in reality the best VFR so far.

Not sure about character but I do love the raw and snarly feeling my Gen 5 Mk1 imparts when commuting through traffic at low speeds keeping me grinning all the way yet it also manages to feel supremely smooth and refined when touring distances or hitting the tight twisties. I'm not sure just how it manages to pull that little trick on me but it's very very cool.

here are some numbers... it's amazing how similar the bikes really are, and how nothing much has changed substantially since 94...

I'm not exactly sure what defines character in a motorcycle, but my gut feeling is that a tuned 6th gen has plenty of it.

After the breaking in, I don't think a VTEC is qiute the monster that it's made out to be.

I have had the opportunity to ride every gen including the aqua blue 250 model from '88, and they are all great bikes, we just have to realize it!
