I'M an oil change fanatic. I want to dump the oil that came with my new bike pretty soon.

Reading through the manual I couldn't really make heads or tails out of the diagram for removing the front cowl and inner cowl.

I have heard the clips are prone to breaking. Think a fella ought to have a handfull of them on hand for future (?) use?

Does anyone have the patience to write a few paragraphs on front/inner cowl removal for us 6th Gen newbies?

    Thanks,

    Cycle Mike

Take off the LHS side fairing panel first by removing the 5 bolts as described in the owners manual and the 2 plastic clips under the bottom where the panels meet and the one around the front near the oil cooler. To remove the clips you push in on the centre part, with a small screwdriver, it pops in about 1mm then you can lever it out.
You remove the front inner cowl by removing the 2 bolts attaching it to the RHS fairing.
When removing the side fairing be careful because it can stick at the top corner where it clips to the other panels.
I find a little silicone spray helps here and on the clips too.
On a new bike removing the side panel is always tricky the first few times.
Just take your time and dont force it.
I havent broken any clips yet but a few spares is a good idea. They are not the best thing Honda has invented!
