When I checked this out it didn't work for me. The forks fit perfectly, but when you look at the fully compressed state throughout lock-lock in both directions there is clearance issues. It's pretty close, but I didn't see a way to (easily) make it work. Don't forget, too, that the F3 springs are WAY off, so besides physically making them fit there would also be other setup involved.

My spare set of VTR1000F forks are tempting me to fit onto one of my 500's. The problem is that nothing will just bolt-on and go.

I've been following this thread from the beginning with great interest. My last bike was an 86 500, and I really wish I still had it. Of all the bikes I've owned over 40 years of riding, it fit me the best.

Looks like you've done a great resto. Props for all the work you've put into this great machine. Can't wait to see pix when it's all put back together.
    Thanx a bunch for sharing.

There isn't anything that fits the old VF's directly. Go here to see the details of the modification I do:

Daugherty Motorsports - Motorcycle Suspension Performance and Modification

Yes, you can. You have to do something with the front fender so it doesn't rub. I hold mine out to the forks using wire ties, but this option probably isn't for everyone. Shoot me an e-mail if you have any other questions.

well got my rear tire ordered, i ended up going with a 160/70 rear tire, i might have screwed my self but i went more on the softer side, so i guessing this one wont last too long. but im going to start bleeding the brakes, clutch, oil change, so i figure this weekend she will be back to active duty, ill make a video for you guys and put it on youtube, i gotta share the hindle a little!,but what i would like to do is go over how much all of this cost me.

    f2 rear wheel,60.00
    f2 wheel conversion & f4i shock revavled,535.00
    01 cbr f4i rear shock,15.00
    galfer rear brake line,50.00
    galfer front brake lines,100.00
    custome made clutch line,37.00
full hindle exhaust with coating done,240.00
    jet kit,111.19
    solo seat,125.00
    new tsubaki gold chain,90.00
    new rear tire,223.00
total cost with me doing al the work came out to be,1586.19$ thats 86.19 bucks more than i paid for the bike,
to me all money well spent and i still havent got to the front of the bike yet!
