Do Saddlebags conflict with Aftermarket Exhaust?

Hey Guys,
I just got the OEM hard saddlebags for the VFR, but I was also thinking about a Leo Vince slip-on. I am concerned that the pipe could burn the saddlebags because there's no heat shield on the aftermarket pipe. Is this a problem?

I have personally seen a 6th Gen with Leo's & the OEM bags. The pipes didn't interfere in any way that I could tell.

Leos and staintunes fit perfectly with OEM bags. some others don't so stay with those ones.as for getting to hot its not a problem. my tunes actuarially run cooler than stock with plugs out less Resistance less heat. i should think same would applies to leos. have pictures in My gallery of staintunes and OEM bags

 

I've listened to the Leo's and the Staintunes on Youtube, but I just don't think I can make a decision based on that. You have Staintunes. Have you heard the Leo's?
I'm just going with slip-ons.

 

did a vfrd ride last yr heard lots different aftermarket exhaust leos and stain tunes are very close Leos might be slightly louder. to be honest the best looking and sounding were homemade cans made from an r1 stock exhaust cut cans shorter to fit right and re packed them members name was 12voltterry on vfrd.
IMO staintunes have a better fit and finish than Leos. also tunes are 100% stainless including packing slightly heavier and more money than Leos,but should outlast them all
any aftermarket pipe will sound better than stock

 

I have carbon leo's on my 6th gen. After riding for a good while I can touch the cans with my bare hands. Not saying its cold but deffinently not HOT. I also have soft bags but have yet to try them on a long trip. Hopefully this year

 

I went with the Aluminum Leo Slip ons and they sound amazing!:biggrin: The quality is great and they were easy to install. Even the aluminum pipes aren't very hot after a ride. I've only heard the staintunes on youtube and don't know anybody with that type of exhaust...but I know you can't go wrong with the Leo's.:thumbsup:

 

I orderd my two brothers exhaust system the same day I got bike, as it was the only one on market at that time. besides the cut & slip on systems. as the stock system is a two pipe system all after market systems go two to one. the 2 brothers gives you the second one to mount (you have a spair when the first one burns out and gives you time to order new packing. make shure what ever system you get you can repack them. My ones were brand new when I went on to the Dyno, went from a plesant sound to a Rocket ship with full afterburners on. ( the packing was toast). I have Cortech soft bags they have a nice heat pad that will not cook your beer. (just keep it in the left bag as bag holds 18 pac with ice) right side will not burn your hand just very warm.

 

Aluminum cans don't get hot.
Factory bags have heat shields.
The only problem might be clearing the bag mount around the cans, but a little pulling and some creative washer placement should fix that.

 

No problem with the carbon leos and I love the sound! Can't say the same for the nieghbors:tongue:

 

Interesting. Think I'm going to leave them stock because I probably don't need the extra noise on a long trip this summer. Maybe I'll change them after that.

 

The fit and finish of the Leo Carbon's are next to perfect. The only issue i have is that they move around a little with a lot of riding. The whole system is held together with springs so they shift just a little. I wouldn't change these to any other system! The hard bags might be an option when I get old... I plan to work on a way to hold a set of soft bags off the pipes one day without installing an ugly bracket on the bike. Time to get out the crayons and draw something up...

 

You can do that yourself? Are you an engineer? Designer?

Work great together. Zero issues for either.

 

VFR's are still fairly quiet with exhaust cause of the cat. I rode to Cali last year and the noise didn't bother me at all. It's barely noticeable but at least you know its running. Plus its a good advertisement for V4's. Hearing my bike purr makes me want to ride her even more.
It doesn't get much sexier than this...damn I need to take off those stupid bags.

 

So, are all four of those pipes functioning?

 

Yeah, they are just as loud as a regular pair of aftermarket cans with a slightly different sound.

 

They look good. Do you void any warranty when you switch pipes?
