Hauled my new ride home yesterday in the back of my buddy's pickup since it was 35 and snowing. It would have been a long, long 80 mile ride home in that weather I can tell you...

However, this being Arkansas, the land of totally squirrelly wintertime weather, it was clear as a bell this AM, but cold. It finally hit 40 degrees around noon so I fired her up and took her for a 185 mile ride down some of my favorite local twisties.

Now I understand the fanaticism I see on this site toward this bike. I never got it above 5K RPM's since its a new bike, but even so, what a kick in the ass! I've ridden a lot of bikes in my day, and this one is my favorite...

Now, time for a hot bath since I'm still stiff with cold...

    Regards,
    H.C.D.

Welcome to the addiction. I am a relatively new addict...picked up my '98 this past fall, but I can't imagine the addiction ever getting old. I guess I did start out on a '85 VF500F about 20 years ago, and put 70K miles on an '85 VF700C Magna cruiser from about 1996 - 2005, so technically I am not a new addict the V4, just the VFR :)

    Enjoy!

    V-Tec kick in the pants

You will thoroughly enjoy it when the V-Tec kicks in at 6,600. It isn't abrubt, but a poor mans turbo. Enjoy the upper R's soon.

The owner's manual doesn't give a limit on RPM's for break in it just says " to avoid full throttle starts and fast acceleration. I just read this five minutes ago so it's fresh in my mind.

Some say to break a bike in like you want to run it. Others say ride it like you stole it... .

I have kept mine below 7,000 for the most part with a couple a squirts to 7500. Which is pretty damn fast in 6th gear.
