    I'm up for new rubber.
I've done some research here and elsewhere, not sure what to think.

A pair of Conti RAs can be gotten for 70 bucks less than the R2s or the Roadsmart.

What gives? the RA reviews all seem quite positive, and I'm all for saving a few bucks, but if the others are much better I'm willing to spend extra too.

    any help thanks

    Michelin Pilot Road 2

Well I just bought a set of Michelin Pilot Road 2 Dual Compound! A buddy of mine recommended them he has had great success with them on his VFR and he does alot of touring! Plus many other people I met at a get together last summer in Ontario had them and had nothing but excellent things to say about them! They all recommended them, so (200) VFR owners of all Generations can't be wrong. So that's why I bought a set this past December based on my buddies recommendations and other VFR owners I met!

    Michelin North America Motorcycle Tires

Here's the link to the tires I've described.

    Cheers.......

nothin wrong with conti RA burned through 2 back tires last yr only got about 5000 miles on them 10000 on front that was really pushing it should of been changed at 8000.
traction was great! switched to corsa3 this season just because i got a better deal I'm hoping i will get a few more miles out of these tires

square and triangle shaped tires were out of the question, due to excessive bumpiness, and that I'd have to buy new rims.

Thanks to above posters, looking for more input.

I would like more miles than less

If you're looking for miles, I'd get the R2's. Until the R2's came out Pirelli Diablo Strada got it done for me. I'm thinking of getting the R2's due to spending so much time on the slabs(regrettably). The strada's are a great tire though, literally the only real competition for the R2's (they were the former king imo)

Michelin Road Pilot 2CT's are the bomb.

My '07 VFR 800A came with OEM Metzeler ME4's, which I really disliked. This is my first VFR, and the more I rode the bike the more disappointed I became with the way it seemed to handle and perform. It wallowed, it wandered, it rode rough, and it seemed to have a mind of its own. At first I suspected that the VFR's suspension was the problem.

But then as I racked up more and more miles on the ME4's (long after they were well scrubbed-in), I also noticed that those tires were still rather slippery and squirrelly, and after the rear ME4 stepped-out badly at ~800 miles, I replaced them with a set of 2CT's.

Well, the difference was like night and day. It was like I was riding an entirely different motorcycle, and it was only after I began using the 2CT's that I quickly discovered what a fine motorcycle the VFR really is.

I would describe the 2CT's as being exceptionally smooth riding, grippy, agile, sure-footed, responsive, well-mannered, forgiving, and long-wearing. Mine have ~5000 miles on them, and I love 'em. So far, they are hands down the finest sport-touring tires I've experienced, and at least for myself, the Holy Grail search for tires is over-- the 2CT's are the bomb!

[FWIW, here's how I would rate the sport-touring tires I've had experience with so far: Michelin Road Pilot 2CT > Dunlop Qualifiers > Bridgestone BattlAx (much cupping of front tire after 2000-3000 miles) > Dunlop 220 > Metzeler Z6 > Metzeler ME4].

    YMMV

If anyones still riding on those OEM Metzler me4 do yourself a favor get ride of them! they are awful tires. on certain rd condition it like riding on ball bearings absolutely crap tires. Honda and Metzler should be ashamed to produce and use a tire like that. i guess Honda figured they would get some parts business out of all the potential low sides

I have the Pilot Road 2s and I am very pleased with them, but my only other experience was with the OEM Dunlops, which were not good. I do have 5,500 on the PR2s, and they still look great.

MY OPINION.. Is that Tires are good. I like like them and like to have them on my bike. I find when I have them my bike's performance is much better than without.

    That said,
Depends on what you are looking for out of a tire..

Some around here like pure performance. Some are pure mileage. Some try and get the best of both. Also many here vary in the riding style, conditions and mileage etc. Tires have different shapes and characteristics.

I hear the Conti RA and SA are good tires kinda offer best of both. Performance and Mileage. I can't speak to this I have not used them. I was going to purchase them this time around and decided to go a different route. I am less on mileage and more for STICK in corners. I opted for the new Bridgestone BT016s this time. They are a triple compound rear and dual compound front. I just came off the Michelin Power pilot 2CTs they are more triangular and turn in takes getting used to. I went to them off of Metzlers but was not happy with them.
So far I am happy with the BTs but I am only nearing the 1K mark on them. If you change you own tires, the online price is right on these as are the Contis. There are more people here with more experience on more brands than I but you asked.

Good luck in your search.

Michelin Road Pilot 2CT's: 36 psi front tire, 42 psi rear tire.

    YMMV.

My '98 came with nearly new Pilot Power 2CT's...much more a track tire than the Pilot Road 2CT's, but I absoultely love them. Grippiest tire I have ever ridden on. Depending on many miles I ride and how fast the wear, I will either get them again or switch to the Pilot Road 2CT's. I have a feeling, though, that I am not going to get too many miles out of them.

I have the Conti RA's (second pair now), and overall I am happy, however, I think that turn-in is quite a bite slower (due to the rounded profile) than the Metzeler Sportec M3's (and M1's before that) that I replaced. In fact, I thought that I had something wrong with my bike after they were put on, as it was so much different/slower to turn in...felt like I was riding a gold wing. Ok, I was exaggerating a bit. The bike fell in much easier/faster before. I am probably switching back to M3's after this pair. That said...they are good tires, with good wear, and good grip.

I wish someone here used the Sport attacks. I would like some feed back on them. I know these are Sport touring bikes but.....We can use sport tires on these things.

I'll probably be your official guinea pig in a few months. I've been using the Road Attacks for a year and half and now that I've been gaining more experience with the bike I want to go faster and sometimes it's a little annoying having to push well before the actual turn.

Joey, I want to "stop having a boring tuna"....can you help me?

I recommend the Metzeler Sportecs. M1 is the soft compound, but the M3 is the harder compound. They turned much quicker than the RA's.

a lot of what tires you buy depends on what oil you run. Since I run Gold Spectro, I run Pirelli Diablos. If I switch to Amsoil for example, I would be inclined to run Bridgestones.
