Does anyone know of a good place to get a chain and sprocket set for my 1998 VFR 800???

I looked all over and the only place I can find is ebay, I was going to buy OEM but service honda wants $221.96 for a new set. I wouldnt mind buying separate if someone knows of a good brand sprockets and chain.

This is one I found on ebay

eBay Motors: Steel Sprocket O-Ring Chain Set VFR800F VFR 800 1998-01 (item 390029530040 end time Mar-08-09 22:41:40 PDT)

Would this be something I should stay away from? anyone buy theese sets off of ebay before and have bad luck?

VFRD forum has a chain and/or sprocket group buy going on. You could check that out: Sprocket Group Buy? - VFRD

    I'm too slow.

Can't believe I missed this. I ordered a set two days ago without knowing there was a group deal going on. Oh well.

Awsome, Anyone know the stock front and rear sprocket sizes for a 1998 VFR800?

Should I go with a different size if I plan on doing a lot of interstate driving? I drive to work every day about 65 miles both ways..

Stock is 17 and 43 tooth. I'd stick with stock if you're doing a lot of highway, or just go up one or two on the rear sprocket. I went 16/45 on my '99, at 70mph my rpm's are up about 6-700 in 6th gear. It definitely has more grunt in the lower rpm's though, sort of eliminated the off the line stumble it's always had.

Another option is Sprocket Specialists. Either will do the trick.

I actually just picked up a steel sprocket from SS a few weeks ago and a chain off ebay.

I highly recommend Moto-heaven. I had a tracking number and personal email within 10 minutes of ordering! Ordered 2:50pm wed, had tracking number and personal email before 3pm, received the chain before 1pm on Friday via priority mail (insured).

I'm running stock front 17t and 45t steel from SS with an EK(enuma chain co) 530 MVXZ Quadra-X Ring chain.

I highly recommend the EK brand of chains(not RK). EK and DID are about the same quality wise, yet EK is quite a bit cheaper. Even their "value" SRX Quadra-X ring line withstood my fat ass. I wore out a rear aluminum sprocket with barely any stretch(read 2-3 adjustments).

JUST avoid rear sprockets made of aluminum since they wear out very quickly....

+1. Agreed. My bike came with one on it so when it wore out I tried another aluminum one and it didn't even make it through one season of aggressive riding.
