I have replaced both cables to my throttle. I can't get them dialed in and all the "adjustment" tutorials tell you to mess with the adjustment near the grip. I need more adjustment. No matter what I do it feels way tight. I have messed with the two cables by the carbs and the minor adjustment on the grip.

I would loosen the adjustment at the grip all the way and then get the cables in the ball park at the throttle body, THEN adjust at the grip for fine tune.....

I have one adjustment on the handle, I screwed that on to give as much play as possible. No matter what I do the throttle still is tight, now my idle is high.

I know this is a stupid question, but I have to ask......have you compared the housing and cable lengths to the old cable and housing lengths?

Also you noted both throttle cables in your original post, which leads me to believe you have a push/pull throttle assembly..... Are the two cables and housings the same length? if not, you may have them reversed...just some things to ask about and to consider.

Not a stupid question. That is actually what I need start from step 1. They are exactly like the old. I know that I can't screw the push/pull in incorrectly at the grip they are keyed. based on the extreme adjustments I have tried the last thing I can think of is that I put them on the wrong bracket by the carbs. But that doesn't make sense because when I pull the throttle the blades open, so operationally it makes sense.

Cable routing is extremely important, so check that out.

Yes..routing can make all the difference. Two other possibilities come to mind. The handlebars have been changed or you have the wrong cables.

Did you adjust the cables at the carbs? There is enough adjustment there for lots of slack. Also did you try adjusting the idle screw? No matter how you rout them once the ends are tightened down your idle can't change by turning bars. Unless it's pulling the carb bracket, which I doubt. You should have around 1/4"- 3/8" adjustment at the carbs and throttle each. The cables should come out of the throttle and down along the right side of the steering head(viewed from sitting on bike). Your return cable has no adjustment. Make sure it's in the throttle groove.

The cables need to be re-routed. Works perfect now. Thank you to everyone.
