4 the experts here: I read (somewhere) that the 5th GEN bars are just a little higher than the 4th GEN and will fit on a 4th GEN. Is this true and has anyone tried to do this?
    Thanks much.

Hey. Same bike, same issue here. I'm hesitant to buy a set of 5th gen bars, because I haven't seen anyone say "Yes, these worked on my 4th Gen."

As far as I can tell, there are three "sure thing" solutions for raising the 4th gens bars.

    1. Heli risers. Discontinued for the 4th Gen. Finding a pair at this point is a matter of luck and/or patience and determination.

    2. Gen Mar risers. They run about $100. Not cheap. They consist of a spacer that goes under the stock clip-on and a "cap" that covers the hole created by the raised handlebar.

    3. There's a guy in the UK who fabs up a similar spacer, for £52 + £4 shipping to the USA. Unlike the Gen Mar, these don't come with the cover plate.

He sent me these pictures of his spacers installed on a 5th Gen. He tells me that he makes them for the 4th Gen as well. The bike in these pictures was lowered, which is why the forks are so high. On a normal installation, the fork caps would be recessed below the top of the clip-on.

Wow. It looks like its been lowered quite a bit. I'm just looking to get a little less pressure on my wrists. I've heard the 3rd GEN bars are a bit higher too, but don't know about if they will fit either.

Dude - did you ask this on VFRD? Thought I saw you there too.....

--- I had genmars on my 4th off and on, so if that set up works - so should a set of 5th gen bars too. The 4th with genmars and 5ths are about the same height.

If I recall correctly yes the 5th is a tad higher, How much? that I'm not sure of, but when riding a 5th right after I rode mine I can tell they are. but never took a tape to em to be able to actually know for a fact.

Yeah, the guy who makes them recommends that I lower the yoke by between 5 and 8 mm when installing the risers.

Has anyone else seen this recommendation, to lower the triples when installing bar risers?

How common is it for 4G owners to lower the triples? This guy is saying that all VFRs benefit from this... I'm not so sure. I've never done this to a bike before.
