    Can some of you tech savvy mutants and any other geniuses we have here at VFRW come up with a solution or workaround for this vexing little issue?

    I recently was given a iphone as a gift, and its a blast, a neat gadget that I enjoy, but when it comes to VFRW I have a problem

    As some may know, iphones use onscreen style keyboards, and when using these on most websites the browser (Safari) has the ability to recognize a "search" or "login" or "go" button inline with a text box or other data entry spot. The keyboard will then also give you "go" button to use if you want on the lower right of the keyboard.

    Our chatbox here at VFRW does not have a "post" button in line with the text enty line and so the iphone keyboard won't give you one either, which means you can observe the chatbox but not post onto it.

    Is there an HTML code line that one can type into this text entry line that would fool the chatbox into recognizing it as an "enter" button keystroke? I obviously am not skilled in HTML, but I have been looking into this for a couple of weeks and have found some code lines from sites that troubleshoot or instruct folks on building their own chatrooms. I have tried a few but no luck so far.

    I also realize that I may have to jailbreak this phone so that it can run different browsers other than Safari, but even that seems like it wouldnt solve the inability of the keyboard to come up with a "post" button where none exists.

    Maybe some of our residents programmers or hackers have my answer

    Drives me nuts that I cant use it to chat on here, but everything else works just fine.

    Why not download a keyboard that has an enter button. I have an HTC touch pro so I already have an enter button. I bet that would work instead of unlocking and getting a new browser.

    Barry,

    Thanks to site owner Michael, VFRW has a couple options that may help the site work on your mobile phone.

    "You can now access VFRworld from your wireless device. I've created a "lite" version of the site, which allows for faster loading of pages on your cell phone, PDA, Blackberry, or any other web-enabled mobile device.

    Just go to wap.VFRworld.com from your mobile device."

    Also, I know that you are a chat whore, but if you should want to shut off the chatbox so that the site loads faster, please follow the instructions below.

    Go to:
    My Settings ->
    Control Panel ->
    Group Memberships ->
    Join the "Disable Chat" Group

    Chat will now be turned off for you!

    Hope this helps.

    I think the HTML code for a return is BR inside of brackets. IF I type it out correctly, it will do the return which makes the message look funny use < B R > without the spaces... See if that fixes what you are talking about, but I'm not sure. I tried the chat box from Opera on the Wii andgot nowhere...

    Just tested on my htc touch pro using the touch screen keyboard and hitting the return button works fine. So like I mentioned before downloading any keyboard with a return key should work fine.

    I've though about that Jon , but so far no apps are out there for iphones that offer alternate keyboards except for Cydia, I think, which is avaliable only to jailbroken phones.

    Jason, my iphone's Safari browser wiil only recognize the mobile version of VFRW by taking the url and converting it instantly to the regular site.........Apples..theyre almost too convenient

    Mine has a 'return" key, but all it does is scroll up when youre on the chatbox enter line, I need a "go" button on the keyboard the way it will do if you'e on a text entry spot that has some sort of button after it, for example a search or login box

    Thats too bad. I went with windows mobile because there is so much more you can do with it than iphone. Does the iphone have bluetooth? I use a bluetooth keyboard on my htc all the time. Works great. I dont have internet at home so I spend all my time on this site through my phone.

    I have the 150 hp version, although thats not dyno proven yet, which means it doesnt have 150 hp........and you have to eliminate your O2 sensors since theyre just sensing oxygen and not producing it.........heehee I'll submit video proof later..

    Again,.....gift.

    So I would be making my kids feel bad if I threw it in the trash.......heehee

    My understanding is that bluetooth does work but with some bugs....but my reading says jailbreaking this thing may be the way to go solve a lot of issues this thing has, since it takes away Apple's inisistance on all things being proprietary.

    Yes, unlocking might be the way to go then. At the top of the page there was a iphone unlocking ad. Actually its right under ur original post. Could always check that out. Im sure there are lots of free copies of programs to do that all over the web though.

    There all kinds of software available to jailbreak iPhones, some paid and some free. I was hoping one of our resident hackers here might come up with a slick solution, or have an unlocked iPhone and know if jailbreaking it and loading Cydia or some other app would do what I need
