    Hi all

I have the opportunity to buy a 1991 vfr750 for under $900 with 40000ks and its pretty clean. i want to build a streetfighter.
Just wondering if there is any technoloygy, power or design reasons why I would be better of with a 96 model as i can get one for about $3000.

    Cheers

I don't know a hell of a lot about the older ones but something tells me that the '96 will have fuel injection while the '91 won't. I'm sure there are other big differances aswell, the 91 is a 3rd gen and the 96 a 4th.

Ah for a project like you are revering too, I'd get the 91 as there not a lot of difference once the skin is off. then add in the difference in moneys yea the 91 makes more sense. Oh and a 4th gen still has carburetors.

Please do not turn a semi-classic like the 91 into a street fighter. Those 3rd Gens are getting more and more difficult to find and that bike is just screaming to have someone give her some love and bring her back to her full glory. I think the 3rd Gen is one of the nicest looking VFR's ever and unless you plan on keeping it original I would leave it for someone who can get some real use out of it's parts or who is willing to put forth the time and effort to restore it back to it orginal condition. Just my two cents.

    Regards,
    Rollin
