I just got back from a week-long trip in the southwest. I wasn't on my VFR but I did want to say that you guys in the southwest have some absolutely fantastic scenery, and I am truly jealous. We left Phoenix, AZ on Saturday, January 31 and rode west to Arroyo Grande, CA. Sunday we rode up to the Hearst Castle at San Simeon by way of Highway 101, and then back down the coast through SLO to Camarillo, CA. Monday we headed back to Phoenix by way of the Pacific Coast Highway through Malibu and Santa Monica, and also Joshua Tree National Park northeast of Palm Springs. Since my hosts lived in Phoenix the rest of the week was spent with day trips around that area; Bartlett Lake, Tortilla Flats, Tucson, etc. I have about 350 photos on my web site at This URL. It was a fantastic trip and I'd do it in a hearbeat. I thought about a lot of the screen names I had seen around here as a I passed through, but I didn't see any VFR's anywhere. If any of you happened to see a guy on a black Suzuki V-Strom with a mile-wide grin last weekend it might have been me though.
nicely done!!! you ran trhough my old stomping grounds. phoenix, and you came throught the new. Santa Barbara. looks like you hade a memorable time.
Memorable barely scratches the surface. I don't think I could forget it if I tried. That whole area is just fantastic, both for riding and just looking at the scenery. I could have spent a month out there easily.
You just missed the VFRW Az get together on Jan 20 in Phoenix. Would have been cool if you were a week earlier. Glad you had a good time.
I know what you mean Scott, I am glad you are having a blast and enjoy the west coast. As they said, The time come to an end but memories never fade. Thanks for sharing:thumbsup:
I know, I just couldn't get away that week. I would have loved to have seen some of the West Coast guys. I'll be out there again though, you can count on that! Cebu and Long, I truly had a great time and I'm glad you guys enjoyed the photos. I'd have stayed a month if I didn't have commitments here. Life does tend to get in the way of riding from time to time
