hello all. I got to thinking about the upcoming meetup we are having and it occurred to me that some of you who are newer to the forum might be a little apprehensive about coming out for the quote/unquote west coast vfrworld meetup in april. Let me reassure you, all are welcome. In fact, the more the merrier (anyone know how to speall that?) anyway, come on out. here is where we are all gabbing about it, but I wanted to crosspost it for everyone in case they skip the region specific threads. CLICK ME DAMMIT
    :reg:
I am reg, the bald headed guy you see in many of the pics around here. I am from the midwest but I moved out to cali a few years back and I love getting together with other people who like to ride. I don't really care about your politics, your religion, etc. I just like to meet people who enjoy riding like I do. Hell, I don't even care if you ride a VFR, if you are here, and you want to come to the get together, let me know. We'll try to find space for everyone. If you aren't too picky, we'll figure something out. If you are trying to get an idea of who I am, click on the ride reports link at the bottom of all my posts. They kind of cover my histry here at vfrworld and show pics of where I live and where we'll be riding during the BBQ/get together.

    :peace:

Keep me posted on the gathering, i dont get to ride with many people and its sounds fun. The only question i have is how fast do you guys ride? Because i am still getting to know my sport bike, 07' VFR is the first sport bike i have ever had the chance to ride. I love the bike but i feel like i still ride a bit slow.

Me too. I'm sketchy on virgin stuff. I'm olny fast on home court... IE:loops I've done countless times. Some of the guys are fast on virgin stuff but I'm sure there will be a few packs. Lead pack, middle pack, sweep pack, bench racing drinking/hung over pack and it could possibly be broken up even more than that.

yeah, JTC pretty much nailed it. We'll be keeping it mostly toned down although occasionally a few break loose to raise a little hell then stop and wait for the rest to catch up.

that's pretty much the way it will go I'd think. It's shaping up to be a large gathering this time. It should be good times. I'm gonna have to hunt up some more roadkill possum and racoon for the BBQ.

Long, you are the only person I know that can type with an accent!

Reg actually lives in Atascadero. It is just north of San Luis Obispo. It appears there will be more folks from NorCal are going. I will most probably be going down Fri from up here in Susanville. My route takes me right through Sacrapimento. A meeting at the gas station in West Sax could be arranged.

    PM me if interested.

It's awfully tempting, but 2,400 miles one way is a looooooong solo ride. Especially in the end of March/Early April when good ol' Michigan likes to leave one last slap in the face of a foot of snow before spring finally hits.

yeah, that's definitely a long ride, but I think Randy (aka crazy canuck) is doing close to that distance and coming from even farther north. I hope he gets good weather through Canadia/Washington/Oregon/Northern CA! He's :mcrazy: but he knows how much fun it'll be meeting all these clowns face to face...

damn. calling me out? lol. It's only 1,100 some miles for him it looks likes...not even close!

I wouldn't think the west coast would be too bad for winter weather at that time of year though?

    Bad news:
    Option A: LINK
    2,350 miles

If I take I-80....I've got to luck out with the lake effect snow in Michigan just to get out of the damn state, then I'd have to hope for warm air front so I can make it across Iowa/Nebraska....then there's that whole Rocky Mountain thing in Colorado(fun in the summer!)....yeah...that rains on my parade big time!:frown:

    Option B: LINK
    2,444 miles

I could take I-55 through Albuquerque but that looks like a long STRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIGHT road(but warm!). :frown::frown::frown::frown:

Oh yeah, tack a new set of rubber on somewhere in there...maybe I'll just ship a new set to my uncle in Yorba Linda...hmm...

Good News: I have friends to stay with in Chicago, Iowa, Nebraska, and Denver if the weather turned bad and I have family in L.A. to stay with. So this would chop costs significantly.

    It's OH SO TEMPTING!!!

Sounds like fun. I was hoping to go last year, but was the best man in a friend's wedding. I will see what I can do this year. June would probably be better for me. Wouldn't mind trying to meet up with some of the Sac. guys along the way and ride down together. Starting a new job here soon, so hopefully I can get the time off.

Ralph. You seriously think Oroville may be too far? Look north and east about 2 hours and you will see Susanville. I shall call you a weenie in public if you do not go!
