    Hi all,
I've joined these forums to try and locate a manual for the VFR I just purchased here in Australia. I've searched high and low to find a manual for this bike
The compliance plate is stamped 03/89 and the VIN is JH2RC24U4KM000111. I've been told that the VIN gives a full description of the make/model etc.
Can anyone tell me which manual I should be downloading? There are plenty of pre 89 and post 89 manuals available but none for this specific year.
    Please help :)

    Thanks
    Terry

    Thanks

    Thanks Sye,
I guess I posted my request because I was concerned that a place like hondatech.info or even this site covers all VFR750F's apart from mine.
So I was wondering why the 89 model wasn't available or which of the pre89 or the post 89 versions were applicable to the 89 model.
    Regards

Edit: Still searching and have discovered there was never an 89 model released in the US os that may be why its difficult to locate any information on this model

Which previous post are you referring to? The only post visible when I posted my second message was the one from Sye. In fact I still can't see any posts apart from my own and Sye's

    Regards

I would try to locate a factory manual. All the Hayes/Clymer manuals are for the light weight mechanic. They seem leave out the most important specs/procedures that are needed when really getting in to the bike. But better than nothing. Have you tried E-Bay and the alike?
Here's a Honda common manual for free. Not sure how much help it would be.

    Common Service Manual

Same manual you can buy from Honda

Helm Incorporated: Product: Common Service Manual

Try and find someone who has a factory manual and see if they would copy it for you.

    Honda VFR Technical Manual
    it is free.
    best regards.

Thanks GreyVF750F for the feedback. You have hit the nail on the head with regard to the Clymer type manuals.

    WELCOME to the obsession!

i would guess that about 95% of the easilly available Honda service manual for '86/'87 VFR 700 would appy to your bike.

    Hi Terry

I also have an 89 (I'm in UK) and as you say they weren't imported to the US, so there's very little info here. They are very similar in concept to the early 86/87 VFR though... as far as I can tell the main differences are the fairing, which has an extra panel or two, and the fact they have early, narrow 17" wheels. (110/80V17, 140/80V17). Some specific parts may differ, but in terms of most jobs they will be identical to the 86.

Others here may be able to add something to this... if so I'd be interested too!

I'm still amazed how good this 20 year old bike is...
