What if you bought the 675 and kept both bikes for a short period. That way you can think about whether or not the VFR is necessary. I did that when I bouth my VFR; I sold my sv650 about a month later. I realized two bikes weren't necessary and preferred the VFR.

If you really like the 675 so much, go for it.

Life's too short and there are many, many great bikes out there. If that is the one "callling" to you I'd definitely say go for it. If you don't end up liking it you can always go back to a VFR.

If you do get the 675 and sell your VFR, I hope you continue coming to this site. Your posts are always very positive.

    Nungboy,

Again, I'd have a 675 if the dealer wasn't the only place for service.

    An awesome machine fo sho!

the only prob with that keeping two bikes for a little while is that the value is gonna plummet when you take it off the showroom. now if you could find a used one you won't do as bad. especially with people jonesing to sell bikes nowadays. it seems like I heard that the guy I know had some trouble with his 675, though, like serious engine probs and is was gonna be much $$ to get it back to shape. I'll see what I can find out.

If you do get one, you must do at least one track day on it.

You'll really appreciate what it can do...

I love those. I'd get the used one so you don't take the depreciation hit. Use the 675 for your sport bike and put some luggage on the VFR. Every journalist in the world can't be wrong! Keep both, you'll get a multi-bike discount on your insurance!
    Just my opinion though...

    Cheers!

    Craig

FYI, My friend at work want to buy a 2009. Unable to find one, He have to put his name on waiting list. Everyone claim the 09 is much better then the 08.

I'm partial to the Street Triple myself. That bike speaks to my soul for some reason but I prefer my VFR for what I use it for- commuting and carving up twisties on the weekend. I'd get one but I only bought the Viffer in December and if I even bring up another motorcycle to my wife she'll likely stab me in the neck.

Thanks for all the feedback folks!
I went over again yesterday to take a long test drive on the used 2008. (For those in the know, I went over Gates Pass and back via Picture Rocks Pass...for everyone not from Tucson, that is a twisty set of roads that goes up over a dramatic set of low mountains. Some bad pavement, some good, some straights, ups and downs, just a bit of freeway at the end...) What a blast! It is so sporty! Incredibly skinny and light. Very flickable. Very fast acceleration under all conditions. Very exciting. Surprisingly good wind protection. AMAZING SOUND. Better than the VFR! Yes, I know, I know: them thar is sum fightin' words on this Forum. But it really has a lovely, distinct bark. A bit less comfy than the VFR of course. I was most interested in the effect an hour ride would have on my body (49 years old, 180 lbs, 5' 11"). There was some tension on the neck and left wrist when I got off but that was after almost no stoplights and no rest. And some of that was probably due to the fact that I was nervous and tense riding someone else's $9k machine. I think I could get used to it (I have spent almost 40 years hunched over a road bicycle.) Is it too much machine? I don't think so. Is it the perfect second bike? BOY HOWDY! If I can only have one bike, is it the ONE? Well, I don't know...need to do some soul searching. The goal is to have both. I'll work on that.
    Me want!

You could try out the Speed Triple R for fun, it has all the advantages of the Daytona 675 except looks of course but is the more comfortable.

Yes, I did look at it yesterday. I think I am taken with the total package of the Daytona...ricky racer and all that. (If I could, I'd collect one of each! And a 1050 too!)
So many bikes so little time!

Prior to picking up my '00 I was REALLY REALLY tempted to grab a Daytona (my former Sgt. has one) I love those bikes for all the reasons you mentioned. I will be grabbing one as a garage mate for the '00. Excellent bikes from Hinckley.

    YOU BET!
(Wouldn't THAT be cool? Can you imagine how nice it would be to be able to buy something like a bike for a friend and just gift him with it? Of course, it would be even cooler to GET one! If I had tons of money I would do some nice things like that.)
