So today it's sunny and beautiful outside. It's over 50 degrees, it's a Saturday...Perfect riding weather. I decide to stop by a friend's house on my way back from a meeting and let her ride pillion. She has never ridden on a bike before and gets on, but then leans to one side to adjust her pants leg or something. I feel the bike starting to tilt, and I yell, "No, no, no!!!" It's past the point of no return. She and I got clear of the bike, but it fell over -- and down into the ditch. I now need a source on the following parts for a 2007 RWB ABS.

1 - Right hard bag (just the painted portion).

2 - Right foot peg metal lower and the warning tab that sticks down from it.

    3 - Right fairing.

    4 - Right lower cowl.

    5 - Right side mirror.

6 - Right side crankcase cover.

I am now going to head into my room and cry.

ouch. well, for temporary fix on the paint portion, you can do colorite or there is a company on ebay that gets pretty darn close. i used their touch up for about a year before I bought new plastic... for the other stuff, i'd probably go to servicehonda.com myself...

dang, man, that really sucks. can't help ya on the parts...

I don't really understand exactly how it happened though besides it tipping into a ditch... was it just when she first got on the bike or while you were riding?

I've never had a problem with pillion riders ever, but then again I'm huge (6'4" 300+lbs) unless they get antsy in a turn and try that readjustment crap lol.

Uh, already??? That sucks dude. You know if I were you I'd just get the fairings repainted like Reg is saying and just replace the mirror. Chances are it's gonna happen again and it'll suck major to spend all that cash on new fairings and crap only to have it dumped again.

There's a member here, Rollin_Again that has some experience with crashing RWB bikes you might want to get ahold of him.

As bad as you feel, imagine how crappy your passenger feels.... Don't sweat it since it was not a VFR1000 - where parts are a pain to find. Yeah, money's tight, but if you are O.K. she's O.K. you are good to go again.

Next time you'll ask her to remove her pants before you ride with her or at least follow your lead while you do your magic.

Now that she's broken in, you can rebuild her. ...(make 6 million dollar man na na na na sounds here (young kids... make Chevy Chase putting sound from Caddyshack sound))

Hope you're back in the saddle soon.

Ah balls!!! That sucks. Sandalwood these footpegs are off my '03. I checked the Honda parts fische, the part numbers are the same as your '07, 50635-MBW-000,they should bolt right on. You can have both pegs if you want them, they're just sitting on my parts shelf collecting dust, just pay the shipping. Save you at least a little bit on your repair bill. Let me know. [IMG]

Awww....I am very sorry to hear of your misfortune Casey, however, in the grand scheme of things, things are not as bad as they could have been. At least you are both ok. I know, I know, this is all of the typical garbage that folks say trying to ease your pain....well, the good thing is that you will bring her back to shape soon enough I know. I would buy you a fews brews if I was in your neck of the woods.

The bad news is that the repairs will be very costly. I lowsided my RWB over the summer and the damage did not look bad at all. When I took the bike for an estimate they quoted me over $1500 for just the bodywork alone. Did you suffer any damage to the tank?

I hope you have full coverage insurance

    Regards,
    Rollin

I appreciate all the kind comments from everyone. It actually makes me feel better to have the support of you guys. To answer a few questions:

No, I do not want to make an insurance claim on it. I'm thinking the repair should be only around $2000 and I have so many bikes and cars that a claim would not be beneficial to my insurance for the long term.

    It fell to the right.

Yes, it happened when she was getting on. I wasn't looking at her (even in the mirror), so I'm not sure exactly how it happened, and I feel like it was my fault for not giving her instructions on this as it was her very first time. I think she had swung a leg over and was partially on but leaned over. When she shifted it moved the weight a bit far to one side for me to handle. I was on a slight (maybe 5 degree) lateral incline and this didn't help a bit. I attempted yelling, but there wasn't a lot of saving it without risking knee injury or worse. I think she thought the kickstand would hold it, but she didn't lean to the correct side for that to matter...And I was holding the bike straight up anyhow which was a bad idea on my part. I had the kickstand in the down position, but it wasn't touching road and was on the wrong side for the direction she leaned.

Stosh, thank you very much! You'll have a PM momentarily.
