Took apart the front end today. First time doing anything like this on a motorcycle. It went pretty well. Going to send the forks to Jamie to rebuild, install stiffer springs and gold valve emulators.:ncb:One wheel bearing felt a little rough so those will be replaced too. Also bought new EBC rotors and pads, can't wait to feel the new brakes. Thanks to Uncle Sam new tires are also on the agenda. This is how she looks now, hopefully I'll remember how it all goes back together in a few weeks.

What are your opinions on OEM vs aftermarket bearings for wheels and stearing head?

INSPECT and regrease your headset bearings...replace if damaged.

Go ahead with aftermarket. I use All Balls bearings in the steering head of my bikes and get wheel bearings from the local Kaman office or from McMaster-Carr. Pretty much everything is made in China these days so the quality is about the same.

    Progress update

Update: New wheel bearings are in, fairly simple. Just did head bearings, not as easy. Getting that lower race off was a pain. Waiting on one rotor that was mispackage before mounting new tires. Ebc rotor looks nice...
