Guy has a All Black with stock decals VFR for sale near me, says it's a 2001. Is it a repaint, I see no mention of Black being a stock color.
    Thanks
    Mike

I think black was a Euro color at one time, not sure of the year.

I know dark green was a Canadian color for the 5th gen. Take a look at the paint code ,I believe its located on the side of the bike or somewhere under the seat. That should help solve the mystery. If none of that works,a good close observation of the bike will sometimes tell you. Look for known areas that have labels, if the labels are gone or painted over then its a counterfit. Be aware that Europe and Asia ,especially Japan usually have additional colors that we never get. eddie

No, I think the ones exported to Jamaica were black with yellow and green trim. Kinda
    like their bobsleds!

I thought black was the absence of all color. I think my art teacher told me this, but I wasn't really listening.

Black was available in Canada during the 5th Gen production year of 1999. There is one rolling around Ottawa, Ontario Canada where I live, and I had coffee with the owner one night while out riding around this past summer with him! So I can verify the 5th Gen came in black here in Canada and the Asian continent and Europe but not in the U.S.A.!

To verify it's a real black 5th Gen VFR pop the seat and or run the vin# it will tell you!!

    Cheers!

We had Black ones in Canada in 1998. Color code NH-359 "Mute Black Metallic". I read somewhere they were also in Silver as well as Red that year.

Green and Blue were available in other years. I looked at this Blue 2000 last year - a photo for your viewing pleasure

Yeah, Honda gives us the boring colors(except yellow) the Euro bikes are usually more exciting.

depends. in light yes, in paint, no just the opposite. Usually your art teacher will say black is presence of all color referring to pigments and mixing and your science teacher will say the other.

Maybe the one i have was one that was in stock for a while or no one wanted a black one?
I see it was first reg in 2000 on the document, and have got the rear seat hump that came with it sealed up in original honda box, Black Too!
I was getting worried then for a sec, thought someone may have painted the bike!
i can remember when the guy bought it new back then when i had a silver one.
I find it needs lots of cleaning, wonder why a dark colour always shows the dirt/dust more?
