I was driving my truck and came up to a intersection that can be very dangerous do to line of sight (trees), I looked twice (right ,left, right and left again) and then slowly started to pull out, to my surprise was a motorcycle. Lucky me I looked twice! This person was on a R6 painted camouflage and was wearing camouflage from head to toe (no helmet). Is this person trying to hide from deer or is he planning on running from the police. IMO this person won't last long on the streets with the camouflage scheme.

Kinda reminds me of the old Monty Python skit "This man is not being seen".

Are daytime running lights not regulatory there. I suppose the bike may be grandfathered though

I think daytime lights are mandatory and the R6 comes with them. The lights were not on either. Who knows what this person is thinking, I feel for the cager that doesn't see him.

I know on my 06, I cannot ride without them on unless I mod the wiring. Not that I would want to. As a matter of fact, I will be adding to the exsisting front lights. Will be putting a modulating L.E.D. on the cross member below the headlights. Same as what Police Cars have on their side mirrors, but only white in colour. We have exemptions for motorcycles here that this sorta fits into.

The bike may have been wrecked before, that might be the reason why its painted camouflage and the head lights not on? Who knows. He is definitely a stealth rider.

I noticed that you capitalized "police cars"...

I work with a young guy, who now has a CBR600RR, that used to have a Suzuki DR650 (I think it was a "DR"; an enduro thumper kind of bike). He wanted to paint the entire thing sort of a flat black color. I dutifully pointed out the visibility issue, but it fell on deaf ears. He understood, but it didn't matter to him.

Not enough close calls, I guess.

I think that you'd be doing a great public service by reporting this bizarre incident to the county sheriff's dispatcher as soon as possible, since this nut is obviously a danger to himself and (more importantly) to others. After all, a sportbike painted in camouflage would tend to stand-out around town as well as on well-traveled highways, etc.

Whenindoubt01, do you recall if the rider was (1) wearing camouflage make-up on his face? (2) wearing gloves? (3) Was there a tankbag on the motorcycle? (4) As he passed you, did he make eye contact or acknowledge your presence in any way, or did he seem to ignore you?

It strikes me as potentially significant that he wasn't wearing a helmet. (The whole "camo" thing, as well as no running lights, is also very intriguing.) I'm wondering if this person, in his twisted thinking, was actually out trying to hunt down and shoot animals (including pets) found along isolated rural roads, for merely sadistic reasons. If he was not wearing gloves (we already know he wasn't wearing a helmet), it would then be relatively easy for him to stop, pull out a small-to-medium caliber handgun, and start plinking away.

My hunch is that this a young person (most likely caucasion) who is very mentally disturbed, and I would not be surprised if he has a history of cruelty-to-animals as well as perhaps a fascination with guns and/or fire-setting and petty arson.

It would also not surprise me if those who know him would describe him as being rather quiet, odd, and aloof, as well being a loner, with few if any close friends. Moreover, it would not surprise me if he's currently living with one or both of his parents (maybe in their basement), who might be very passive and 'enabling'. I would also not be surprised if he has a fascination with violent video games.

The fact that he was riding a R6 which was painted in camo (with the running lights disabled, no less) might suggest that while he may be of below-average intelligence and education, he may have access to a garage, and he probably has cursory knowledge of automotive technology. I would expect him to be sporadically employed, with a history of having problems getting along with co-workers, supervisors, and authority figures. He is likely to be highly impulsive, and perhaps very dangerous when subjected to a sufficient amount of stress.

As bizarre as the above post seems (& possibly tongue-in-cheek), I got a chuckle but there may be some truth to the observations...

I wuz just gonna add that I DO NOT UNDERSTAND cruiser-riders' need to dress in all black, and disable the headlights on their "bikes".

Similarly, I cannot wrap my head around the fact that most rainsuits are black...
Ought to be illegal to sell a black rainsuit - Really, the DOT should require all motorcycle rainsuits should at least be a brighter color than the background of wet pavement on a dark rainy day.
I've thought about this for years

FWIW - I also drive a truck for a living in all weather, and have (barely) seen many questionable dress and behaviors by motorcyclists, bicyclists (which I also am), pedestrians etc.
One of my pet-peeves in dark colored SUV's and minivans (usually one or the other) with no headlights on dark rainy days and evenings.

Another one that has always amazed me. We here in Canada have had regulated daytime driving lights on all new cars sold since around 1990 or so. Why did they not go and still do not go that extra bit and make the tail lights come on as well? Really makes no sence. I am sure we all have faloowed a grey car on the highway in the pouring rain and realize just how invisible they are withou their tail lights illuminated. During daytime on the highways I always turn on my headlights manually and set the high beams. Night time of course I use the lights accordinly. High beams during the daytime are far more visible yet they will not blind those you follow due to the ambient light.
    around.

    ATGATT, even in a cage.

He was wearing a coat with a hood, pants, gloves and face mask all were camouflage. No tank bag. I think if you disabled the head light you would be prone to get pulled over by the police. I think? its a law in Arkansas to have your head lights on at all times. I wondered if maybe he was looking for a law suit? I have seen this bike before (last summer) just not with his camouflage outfit. This person is obviously not looking at his personal safety. If I see him again I will call the sheriff for his and others safety.

Hey don't get down on violent video games- some of us need something else to do when the weather sucks!

My personal pet peeve is all the bastards around here with white or silver cars driving at dusk in dense fog with no headlights. Drivers in Oregon are largely retarded, though I'm sure it's not limited to Oregon...
