My vote has always been at Barber Motorsports Track, Birmingham Alabama. There would be a Track day, plenty of twistys, and the outrageous motorcycle museum.

    Must be winter!

Confucius say it's the journey more than the destination. Kansas...featureless, maybe but joining up with a couple dozen or more viffers could be fun.
I often thought the Ozarks/Northwest Arkansas would be a blast to have a rally. We have some great riding and several outdoor activities to keep one going for a few days.
    Check out the link.

In years past, the debate about where has gone round and round. The desire to have it at this member's suggested location or that member's favorite spot is what always kills the issue.
I KNOW Kansas sucks for motorcycle riding. But it eliminates the complaint that it favors one area or another. The idea of an all-American VFRW get together is to allow ALL of America to come.
I am proposing a camping trip so we can hang out and get to know each other. Not to stare at each others' tail pipes all day or wonder where everyone behind us went. We can do that locally in smaller groups. A rally is more for socializing than riding. That is what I am proposing.
So, in further posts, please do not tell me what areas are better for riding. Just let me know if you'd like to hang out in 2010.

It was not my intent to cast a stone at your Kansas suggestion, just shamelessly promoting my area.
You are absolutely right about the socializing opportunity. You can't learn much about a bloke by following/leading someone around all day.
Lastly, I am game for anywhere as long as it is not a F@#$ing Harley get together. Sign me up for Kansas!!!

Just a thought...pick a date. Have the get together with whoever shows up. You have to start somewhere. Even if it's 10 guys/gals that show up. Have a great time, show the others what they missed, and maybe, just maybe...they'll show up next time you do it.

Asking the mob a question like this is like herding cats.

I'm a relative new comer to the board, but sounds pretty good to me. It's close, it's got camping so I can use my 5er, it's got mo'sickles and guns, what's not to like.

I'm not much on group things, being a semi-solitary contrary old phart, but I would make an exception for this I believe.

A nationwide group (Intl actually) I've been in cahouts with has done the yearly rally thing in ILL for years. Then split it to two rallies a week apart in Tennesse and Colorado (then New Mexico) because of the I don't wanna drive that far group. It turned out that most people who attended one, attended both. They would take vacation and go to both rallies and generally travel 3-4k miles. (All this after complaining about riding to the heartland and back was too much!)

Picking a time over a year from now for me is impossible. I don't know what I'm doing Friday. 1.5 years is too far to plan!
(Don't know what my circumstances will be then.)

That will be a long drive for me. But given enough heads up, I just might show up. Think it will be about 4 days hard riding for me though. Do they have lightning there?

    Kansas, hell yass!

Is there a box I need to click in order to cast a vote?
All the people who want it somewhere close to them, or in some Never-Never land of moto perfection are missing the point.
Thanks for the invite, Drew. (sorry for the familiarity)
I vote for September. Planning a trip from East coast to Arizona at the end of the summer. Labor Day weekend?
May is getting votes because it is sooner, rather than later.

I've always said that trying to organise bikers is just like trying to shovel ball-bearings with a pitch fork.

drewl. Good on ya' for offering a place that is central and isn't Sturgis...

It's funny how all these people who have never ridden through Kansas seem excited about going there. If I never see that state again in my life I will die happy. Would love to meet up with everyone but not in Kansas! Can't make it in 2010, planning a trip to Cali in the spring which will not include that state.

Barber would be a great place for maybe an East Coast meet up. They have a motorcycle only resort called 29 Dreams there with camping, cabins, and delicious food, plus music, cheap beer, twisty roads, the museum, and the track.
