Hey y'all, I'm about to put a VFR750 swingarm on my 900RR and need to purchase a rearstand. I have a couple of PitBull stands (which are great) and a LP stand (not so great, pretty crap actually) for conventional swingarms.

What's the best or the best value out there? I see PitBull sells one for $155 + shipping and I see a 'T-Rex' brand on ebay for $120 shipped that comes with an extra bracket to keep the wheel from spinning. What else is out there?

Oh and do they VFR750 swingarms take the same pin/stand as the VFR800's? Thanks!

I can't say anything about their rear stands, but if they are the same quality as their front stands, PitBull would be the way I'd go. But YMMV.

I have a pit bull rear stand, and two of the front ones for that matter. Good quality stuff.

    HI Folks,
I've had a Pitbull stand and a set of T-Rex stands. For the money, the T-Rex stands are very good. I would buy them again. But I only got them for occasional use (tire changes).
But if money is no object, the Pitbull stuff is far superior in workmanship and function. If you can afford the $30 or so extra bucks, that's the way I'd go especially if you are going to use the stand frequently.
As an aside, Pitbull products are made right here in Huntsville, AL. The owner, Charlie Van Valkenburgh, is a very nice guy as well.
    Cheers!

^ interesting, what makes the pitbull superior to the t-rex? I know pitbull makes quality stuff, but I'm just wondering what the pitbull does better than the t-rex

trex and pitbull are more/less the same... pitbull has a better finish quality, but both are very good. given the price differential, I would go trex... whatever you do, dont buy those cheap red ones sold on ebay... they suck!

    Pitbull vs. T-Rex

    Hi Folks,
The Pitbull stands are one piece, with solid (and beautiful) welds.
The T-Rex stands come in pieces that you assemble and bolt together. That in itself makes a difference in the integrity of the product. If you're careful when you assemble the stands they'll work just fine. The T-Rex stands may even be more practical, but if I was going to use a stand frequently, I would go with the Pitbull. At a race event you'll see more Pitbull stands than any other brand, and there's a reason for that.
    That's just my opinion though.
    Cheers!

I dont know if it came out of the box this way, or sagged over time, but the bike does not sit vertically, it is off by about 5 degrees to the right... in addition, the peg was too tight by prob .002" making it a PITA to use... I have to knock it out with a broom handle to get it off the bike.

    daveto,

I bought my stand directly from Pit bull and had it shipped to my Dad in Massachusetts, then brought it over the border myself after a visit. If you don't have a shipping address in the US you can use, I know Rider's Choice sells them. They are on Dixie just north of the Queensway. I can't tell you what the price is, but my guess would be something like $180. I paid $140 US on-line. I bought some other gear at Rider's Choice when I was living in Markham, and they are fair to deal with but definitely not a discount outlet. As for the stand, I love my Pit Bull. I can't compare it to the Vortex, but it is absolutely rock solid and I beleive it will last longer than I do. As long as you don't walk away with the engine running and the bike in gear, I see no chance of it vibrating off the stand. My $.02
