whats the best vfr out there

hey guys i just interested to see what people will choose for the best vfr, i currently have a vf500 and im in love with it, but now im about to pickup a vfr 750 so lets hear everyone thoughs on it.

 

If one was to do a search of this topic you would find at least half a dozen threads. The answer is as varied as personalities. The VFR has been a SUPER motorcycle from the very beginning. The generations have their little differences that appeal to different people. There are even a few members who own several different generations.
A model that continues to thrive after 25 years is obviously a good one.

 

I have a '97 (4th GEN 750) and love it. Would love to have a 5th GEN too and/or a 6th. They're all good, pick one. Finances dictated what I have.

 

Deep subject, way to many variables, you'd do good in anyway you go, so get what you like and can afford. Yea a 25 year run says something huh?

 

The one you own and ride is the best VFR out there... At least in my mind thats how it works anyway. I have 6th gen and love it everytime I swing a leg over it.

 

wow thats alot of responses so quickly, to me i love older bikes, not that theres anything wrong with the newer ones, but to me the older bikes just look and fuction amazingly.

Sorry, had to do it. I love my 4th Gen, however I also really like the 5th Gens. It all depends on what you want. As the VFR gets/got older, it became more tech heavy, as well as heavier all together. I like the 4th gens because they are still fairly racy. I wouldn't call the 6th Gens racy at all, but that's just me...

 

so the 6th gens, some one tell what is the big deal with them, i havent rode one, but what is it becouse they have vtec or they go fast, stop quick, what makes that bike so appeling.

 

The only VFR I've ridden so far was a 6th gen. I absolutely loved it when I was riding solo, but it was rough with a passenger. The bike is heavy, but doesn't handle like it weighs 500 lbs. The V-tech was fun...when you were intentionally using that rev range. A couple times it would surprise me in the middle of a turn, but I eventually became accustomed to it. One downside was braking during a turn. If you needed to brake, it would immediately come upright. I'm hoping my new 5th gen will be as enjoyable (if not more so) with the lighter weight and lack of V-tech.

Every Generation has is quirks... It's a VFR nothing else matters! :thumb:

Give me 1 bike from each generation. Other than some cam oiling problems with the 1st Gen, they are all stone stock reliable bikes - typical Honda quality. You can't go wrong with any of them.

 

Pop corn you say Huh? Ok dude go ride a 6th then a 4th or 5th, Ride the 6th first then work your way down. then jump back on a 6th then you will know whats what. 6th gens are very polished almost boring to the point of one doesn't feel any soul, very bland IMO. Great idea in a motor, still say it belongs in their cars not a motorcycle. Yea only problem, if you can call it that, is its age 4th even 3rd gens are getting back there, that doesn't make em a bad bike by no means, just be fore warned some parts are starting to get hard to come by, which makes the 5th gen probably the smarter choice, especially when one concertizes $$$ But you didn't hear me say that did you?... Can you pass me the soda please...

 

Everyday i become more and more pleased with my 4th gen. I really don't know what does it for me, but everyday I walk out to my garage and see it glistening there ready for the keys and fire it up, it brings a joy that my dads bikes (CB750, Z1, White CBX, Goldwing, BMW GS and K1200Lt) never gave me even as a passenger in my younger years. I cannot say which is best, but I will say I grow fonder of her daily.

I am changing my answer. The best gen is the one that doesnt take you 2 hours to change air filter and spark plugs. Frustrating is an understatement in this job.....the first time.

Some truth there, when I had my 6th Gen found its controls were slicker and snickier the forks better behaved than my current 5th and like all VFRs fall off a log easy to ride.

Splitting hairs the 6th being smoother is the better over 500 miles plus distances and the airbox noise more exciting nearly Ferrariesque at higher Revs but overall the 4th & 5th with rawer yet still refined natures just feel way cooler punting around everywhere else but then again that is also true against nearly every other bike out there other than a few of the sportier Vtwins.

 

to me i would like to ride the vf1000r, no real reson im just interested in what kind of power it has, im a speed freak anyway, ive seen a bunch for sale but all out of my price range, i just need to take one for a spin
