I just watched (DVR'd) the UFC Fight For The Troops. As I sit here on my comfy couch, watching guys beat the snot out of each other & in one case, breaking a dudes arm, I find it very hopeful that there are people out there that are willing to put a worthy cause ahead of their own interests. As a general rule, I don't approve of most charities. This stems from the American Red Cross scandal after 9-11. Occasionally, there is an organization I can put my support behind. Dana White, UFC President, could simply do business as usual. He didn't. He decided to put on a free 3 hour event to support the Intrepid Fallen Heros Fund. No matter what you think of the UFC or organized martial arts, offer a silent "Thank You" to Dana White & the UFC for doing this great service & raising awareness for this great organization.

As a current member of the USAF, it warms my heart to know the US public supports the fine men & women of the US Military. I leave soon for my 9th deployment in 8 years. My deployments are little more than an inconvienence compared to a person that comes home from whatever shit-hole with a permanenty injury or disability. If you see a guy wearing one of the WWII/Korea/Vietnam/Desert Storm/Iraqi Freedom/Enduring Freedom hats, thank them for what they've done. If you can, go to the site below & make a small donation.

so maybe you can tell me just why are we in stinking Afghanistan?>?

let's get OUT, bring troops home to their families and let stinking Afghans work out their own probems

the main lesson of history is this:
no country wants to be invaded or controlled by a foreign power and will fight to expel invaders, especially when they have a different religion. this rule is universal and constant throught time.

we have no business in Afghanistan!!

Of course WAR IS GOOD for defense contractors and their stockholders, congressmen who like waving the flag to get votes, and military officers seeking promotion.

I have SquirrellDouche on my ignore list. If you start browsing the forum without signing in, you can see the idiots on your ignore list. SquirrelDouche's post has completely cured me of that habit. I'm always signing in before I browse the forums now.

Anyway, leave it to him to be a complete utter prick & try to ruin a thread about supporting a more than worthy cause. That cause is the medical & emotional care of those injured in the line of duty to their country. Guess what? I don't support the freaking war in Assramistan any more than any of the bleeding heart liberals. Why? It's a lost cause as the soviets spent 25 years finding out. However, I still more than support the men & women who put their lives on the line day in & day out. I don't care about their politics, I only care that they serve their country.

It doesn't matter if you support the war, support the warrior. Remember, it's only because of the warriors that you can be a freaking idiot in public like SquirrelDouche is.

To quote "Gabby Johnson" in Blazing Saddles "RRRRREHRRREEE!!"

    Translation: "Yeah, what HE said".

This fight was here in Fayetteville. I was not there. Everyone who went had a blast.

I have been asking around to people I know that watched the fight if they had donated and I was pretty dissapointed that almost everyone that I talked to had not. At the very least you could consider this a $25 payperview fight. If you think about it, if all the viewers kicked in 25 bucks they would have the new facillity built in no time.

As far as the fights go that guys arm was definetly tweeked and probably suffered some ligament or tendon damage but it did not break on the other hand in a untelevised prelim fight Cory hill snapped his leg like a twig after his opponent checked one of his leg kicks. The crazy thing about it is after it broke the pair kept fighting on the ground for 10 maybe 15 seconds before the official stopped it. Can you say OUCH!

I wonder if Squirrelman is in reality just some 17 year old pimply faced nerd who just likes to tweak people for the fun of it, and really doesn't even believe a word he says. Hmmmm. If I'm wrong, I apologize Mr. Squirrelman! But the things you say just don't ring as genuine.

Please, ....i don't blame the troops; i blame the commanders, the lying slimeballs in the White house.

they are simply following orders from corrupt, selfish, bribe-taking, ignorant politicians in Washington who send them on dangerous missions, poorly planned and without regard for long-term consequences of their actions....all for the benefit of US corporations like oil companies, Halliburton, and other defense contractors.

troops are mosty young and have no political awareness, and that's just the way the military brass want them; but it's time for some to stand up and REFUSE to invade, bomb, subvert, and destroy.

i don't beieve in personal attacks, but some here do.....

i went to university during the turbulent 60's, and actively opposed the draft and the senseless and costly, misguided (Nixxxon, KiSSinger) US participation in a Vietnamese civil war......

Sorry KC and crew. But I did not see in Squirrel's initial post that he was slamming any of the troops. What I read was that he questions the reason for being there. Many people do not understand why we are there. I do and agree with our being there in the first place. But....we should be aiming at getting our men and women out of there as quiclkly as possible without abandoning the reason we went there in the first place.

Whether or not I believe in the politics surrounding our missions abroad, I have always supported our Canadian troops, and all our allies as well. We simply must support them. They depend on that and we depend on them.

So all you allies out there serving...my best wishes go out to you. No matter what flag you fly.

I'm not quite sure what language this was typed in, but I feel it's quite relevant to point out that the UFC Fight For The Troops resulted in the largest single day donation to the Fallen Heroes Fund since the FHF was created.

You're right & I agree 100%. With that in mind, let the mental pygmy start an anti-war thread if he wants. He didn't because he's an asshole, plain & simple.

No matter what anyone thinks of me or my antics on this site, the only goal I had in this thread was to raise some awareness for the FHF. Nothing more & nothing less. If you donated, I thank you for making a small contribution to the health & well being of my comrades in arms. Even if you can't afford to donate anything, just keep them in your thoughts.

I just found out the total amount raised that night was over $4 Million. If no one else does, I will: "Thank You Dana White & The UFC."
