...man, I tell ya, I sure do love riding the spring (& winter) and fall. The cool crisp air just feels good, and the bike always seem to feel that she has never run, shifted, and handled better. The stars, are more bright (seemingly) and the air just feels cleaner, and more crisp. It is just plain more comfortable to me as well, as I am not baking hot in the cow (leather).

    :vtr2:

Any other folks enjoy riding in slightly cooler weather? I will say though, I am not a huge fan of riding in freezing weather, because if I cannot stay warm enough, I am not enjoying it as much.

    You suck. J/K!:cheersaf:

We just got slammed with a Nor'Easter up here in Vermont. 7 inches of snow, followed by 1/4" of ice chased with 3 more inches of snow.

My VFR hasn't been ridden for quite some time.

But since I work for Burton snowboards, I have a different "ride" for the winter, so it's not so bad.

I hasn't been too bad here in Central Texas. I will ride if it is close to forty but in the low 30's or worse and I go with the truck. It is in the high 50's low 60's today so I am on the Viffer.

I always enjoyed the cooler days also - everything is more beautiful. It seems if you are too hot or two cold it could distract some folks, get their head out of the game.

I've lived in or around Lake Tahoe my whole life so I'm pretty well used to cold weather but I have found the older I get the less I'm enjoying riding in the real cold stuff. Did a Reno loop last year at the end of winter and that was pretty miserable with temps in single digits through Truckee. I said to myself at the time that's the last of my real cold weather trips on the bike. Dirtbiking is another story though, I'll pretty much go whenever.

One of the many things I enjoy about cool weather riding here in Ohio is how good it is to feel very snug and warm with the help of a heated inner fleece jacket (one with a high neck), as well as cold weather riding gear and a set of heated grips. Heat rising off the engine becomes yet another welcome source of warmth and pleasure. (A hot meal and hot coffee often never taste better than when taking a break while riding in the cold.)

Ohio's weather is predictably unpredictable, but when the stars are in good alignment, spring is really starting to pop here come late April and on into May. Pastel colors and the sweet fragrances of wild flowers, honeysuckle, and newly mowed grass mingle with the earthy scents of freshly plowed and manured fields.

Riding in October and November throughout Ohio's hardwood forests is in many ways more spectacular because of the high concentration of sugar maples with their fiery bright red, orange, and yellows. Whereas spring brings forth sweet scents, fall tends to bring forth wonderful smells that are rather spicy, smoky, bittersweet, and tinged with the scent of campfires and souring apples.

The sun begins setting ever more early and quickly as fall gives way to winter in Ohio, when the whitetail deer begin their annual rut, a time when deer-strikes are more likely to occur with motorcyclists in particular.

I too prefer cooler weather to ride in, I tend to get very warm when wearing all the gear.

Redrover I know what you mean.

But I like to ride in the hot heat. The air feels great when it comes over the flip-flops and between my toes. The way it wraps around my calves and up my legs and into my shorts to keep my good stuff cool. Got to have cool good stuff. With the wind blowing thru my hair and down between my back and tank top keeps the sweat off. Keeps the head cool for quick thinking. Got to have a cool head, always. I do wear goggles to keep any debris from getting in my eyes. You got to be safe that way.

Yes I love the hot weather. The cool or colder weather just makes you put clothes on.

I like riding on a cold day :smow: in my speedo  with my belly hanging over (like I have a choice), and wearing my helmet and boots for safety, of course, and also so no one can recognize me :spy:. For some reason I seem to get a lot of attention when I do this. :jaw: :faint2:  I've even seen mention of it in the local paper in the Police Blotter section. Go figure.

Took a 3 1/2-hour ride north out of Phoenix yesterday. Temps soon got into the low 40's to high 30's. Had on a long-sleeved t-shirt, electric vest, and an Aerostitch inner fleece liner over my Aerostitch Darien jacket. Had the Darien pants over jeans. Should have worn some long johns, because the cold coming through the pants eventually won out.

I'm pretty cold-blooded, hence all the clothes, which in turn tends to restrict easy movement of my upper body, which takes some of the fun out of the ride. Still, gotta agree with derstuka. It's beautiful out there and the bike seems smoother and stronger than ever.

I love cool night rides but the 1000s of deer near my house make me think twice about it. But now it is a little too cold for me with the 20 degree weather.
