This is my very first post on a forum...kinda excited! Anyway, i was searching around the web for info on the VFR motor for my magna and i came across this site. i love it so far! i know i'm not the typical member on here, but at least i gotta v4...a little watered down from the vfr, but a v4 non-the-less. i hope i can find some more people like myself on here. unfortunately, there aren't any active 'magna' forums anymore. i don't have any recent pix of my bike right now. i'm tearing it apart to customize the tank...i may put some of the 'in progress' pix up. i would love to get to know some of you, i always love talking bikes...especially talking up the v4's!! feel free to drop me a note!!!!!!
Welcome aboard! I'm new to the V4 engine also. Just purchased my first Honda Interceptor a few weeks ago, and I can certainly appreciate the power and grunt that it churns out from its powerplant.
thanks drewl! it's nice to know that the magna does get talked about here. i wasn't too sure if i should join because of my bike, but it looks like it's not a big deal!! :cheersaf:
a Honda V four will get you in the door round here, so welcome aboard. i still have an original sales brochure for a VF750 magna, very 80's cool!
A Magna with a VFR motor in it? Now that sounds interesting. If you used a 3rd or 4th gen motor, you won't need any EFI or ECU trickery. Then again, a 100HP EFI'd Magna would be just plain freaking cool. Put a bigger fuel tank on it & that sounds like the perfect cruiser to me. KC-10 FE out... lane: :usa2:
Thanks man! I've seen a few of those brochures on ebay..they do look kinda cool. be sure to hold onto that!!
I actually got the idea from a dude on youtube! he said the 94-97 motor bolts directly to the magna. i think that's the 4-gen vfr, if i'm not mistaken. there is other stuff i want to takle on the bike first, so the motor is last on the list... i want to get some more info on the swap too, before i start. the tank's gonna be cool! i bought a valkeryie tank and i'm cutting off the top of it and putting it onto the base of the magna tank(after cutting off the top of it as well)! Hopefully, it all goes together well..
I am a proud owner of two Magnas I just got my motorcycle licence as well. I own a Canadian market 1987 Super Magna with a 750 cc engine (as opposed to 700 cc US model). Not very common but less reliability problems! We are selling this one. I also own a 1995 Magna, doesn't have the diagonal tailpipes, but still looks good. The are some differences between the engine between the Magna and the Interceptor.. The Magna has chain-driven OHC and the Interceptor uses gears. This allows the Interceptor to rev higher and longer but the Magna is tuned more for lower torque. I believe the Magna is capable of 0 to 60 in 4.5 secs or so.... .....not bad for a 750 cc mid-nineties cruiser. thesheet
