They can call it North Vermont.

But they'd have to ditch the Frenchiness and learn "woodchuck".

As long as they bring poutine and pay their taxes it's fine by me.

No. Actually I think far from it. I just don't see them making it on their own. And I don't see your society accepting what they demand, and are getting from ours as far as a "Distinct" society and their French Language laws. It is far too complicated to get into here but to draw a similar parallel. You have an extremely large portion of your population whose first language is one other than English if I am not mistaken. And at the same time, their heritage may be largely different than what the majority there is. What would happen if that segment of your society wanted special privileges based on that? An argument I hear all the time is that if you come to your country, you adapt to your way of life. I don't argue against that at all. As a matter of fact, I agree with it. One issue we here deal with is that the French people in Quebec and some of our maritime provinces and Manitoba, are founding residents of this contry. See where this can go?

This could be debated and in fact has been debated here for over 150 years, since Canadian Confederation in 1867. As it is, from a federal point of view, we are a bilingual country. It matters not at this time if the majority of us like it or not. That is the way it is here. Quebec has a language law that seems to supersede this. Such as there, all signs must have French first. Business names must be French first and then translated to English. You as a private business owner must comply with that law in Quebec. And if I am not mistaken, the French name must be displayed more prominently than the English translation. Even if the business is something such as "Old English Fish and Chips" as an example.

Damned we are such an accommodating society here.:puke:

Manitoba west is considered western Canada. We want to separate too. Viva la Republic of Western Canada.:party2::hitit::soapbox:

Regardless of who was there first, To the victor go the spoils. The stronger society wins out. That is the way of things. For countries to be born, force must be exerted.

You tried that during the war of 1812. Didn't work. We just marched on down there and burned down your White House cause everyone there fled in fear:vader: And somehow the name Royal American Mounted Police just does not have the same ring. We would be called RAMP then:rofl:

yup they got them.... I've seen them used a hundred times its horrible the damage they can and do inflict...... the only thing is, there would have to be pictures of them solid proof that they exist. Or someone will end up with egg on thier face.

What side of the toasted bacon and egg sandwich do you put the ketsup on and what side the cheese. I mean ketsup and cheese do not mix but it goes with both egg and bacon.

    I am sooooo stressed!

Yeah. You may be right. We raided the liquor cabinet there and tried to get drunk on your beer, but out of frustration just burned the place and left. Where's that beer thread? Never mind, where's my beer?:cheersaf:
