Sometimes it seems people have no respect for others things. About 2 months ago while i was in my apartment someone decided if they moved my VFR their car could share the spot with my bike. Unfortunately for me they knocked over my bike in the process and left it to die. I was furious to say the least when i came out later that night to find my baby on her side. :frusty: I only have liability insurance and without seeing who did it i cannot get anyone else to pay for it, so it looks like im paying for any repairs out of pocket. Luckily its only cosmetic damage to the side of the bike and exhaust. After a while i cooled down, and now I am trying to look at it in a positive way. Although the tank is dented and the front cowl needs to be replaced, The side fairings can be salvaged. I had been wanting to pain the bike anyway, so its a good excuse to finally get something done since i pretty much have to have half the bike painted anyway.

I photoshoped some of my ideas together, any criticisms would be appreciated.

How did you know that's the story of how it ended up on the side unless

    A) You saw it happen
    B) Someone else saw it happen and told you (to which they should have some idea of what kind of car the person who moved your bike was driving)
    C) Surveillance saw it happen

I think that whatever scheme you do , try to move the fade to black more forward. takeup more of the fairing with the black and then post another photoshop. I like the stripes on the wheels but try to make them straight and not so squiggly when you paint. ;)

I was thinking of just the opposite. Orange for sure and fade more of it on the tank and on the front edge/along bottom of side cover. Or some other way on the side cover. The solid black tank and side covers look out of place with out some orange on them IMO. Keep the fade to black on the fairing the way you have it. It looks good. Then take the wheels with orange center fading out to black at the rim. Just a thought.

I like the orange scheme but I agree with both Seidts and Gray. Fade more on the fairning or on the tank. It would almost look like the painter was running out of paint the way you have it set up now. You might as well stay true to the Clemson colors. Good luck and dont forget to post the finished product.

I really dig the orange scheme but agree that the tank should also be orange with black decals. My second choice would be the entire bike in Freddy Spencer Pearl Blue with yellow decals which is the same blue that is used in the Anniversary edition.

I like the blue fade better. Only, a darker blue appeals to me.

yep i like the blue too. the scheme reminds me of a 99 ish CBR 600.
they did a number of colour combos-yellow /black, yellow / teal, red /blue
    as pictured here.

not to derail the thread, but the same way I know when mine gets moved. It aint in the same spot I parked it in. If he stood it up and instead of being in the middle of the spot, its off the the side more...... I don't think the bike moved itself. I have caught people doing this all over, and when I've called them on it, they hrug and say "well he doesn't need the whole spot" and it sometimes ends up with a knocked over bike. (just my explaination )

    I like the blue

    :cheersaf:

I've never had anyone move any of my bikes.

But if I came outside and found my bike on the floor I wouldn't assume that someone tried to move it. I'd figure either I didn't park it right or someone just felt like being an ass and tipped it.

on the color note, both options looks good to me. Neither are really my color, but both work within the sense of matching and such.

Thanks for all the feed back guys, i tried to fix the orange scheme up a little bit, still not exactly how i want it, the fade is hard to work with around curves, but i have the idea in my head. Grey, i really liked the idea for the wheels, i'm playing with either doing that or black rims, with the sides of the spokes orange like in the pic below. I'm kinda partial to the black tank, but i do like the idea of fading more on the fairing. I'm swamped with finals right now, so i'm gona have to hold off on fixing the blue scheme until a little later when i have some time.

Crusty you were right on, my bike was definitely on the opposite side of the parking space it originally was, and it could have only been moved that way b/c the handlebars were locked in that direction. I also waited around for about a half hour 2 see if any one would show up, now i am in no way racist, but the car parked in the spot was a Mercedes with 20 in rims and sure enough an young black man and 2 girls came up and i overheard them talking about moving it and "shouldn't have been there in the first place" when i confronted them about it they denied it i was told i was "looking for trouble and going to get my a$$ beat". Then they got in the car and drove away. I filed a police report but my word vs. his, nothing i could do.

    Anyways... here's the pics!

Experiment with the color replacement tool and/or try creating a gradient on a layer above the bike and reducing its opacity. Works easiest when the bike in the source image is white, however.

If you'll upload your source image I'll tink around with it and get you more photorealistic result.

Don't mean to steal your thunder, but it seems that great minds think alike. How about a 4th gen in orange and black? Nothing like a cool fade paint job like you talk about, but I like it so far.

I've been working on this since October when I got my VFR (With a bad paint job and some bodywork repairs due) Still a lot of detail and paint work to go, but it's gotten cold here in Colorado, so I have to wait for weather now. Check my progress at /http://paulsvfr.blogspot.com/

20" tire are quite expensive when you have to buy them twice or thrice. I don't know where I heard that. A little bird told me.

Fizz I put the image i started with up at the bottom, i had been playing with the opacity and granite tools, but if you can work some magic, power to you, i would really appreciate it, if not, no big deal. Since the original image is blue, that orange starts to look more peachy, and the black starts to look like a dark turquoise color, still pretty cool looking though, might be a cool color combo.

Wheee, nice looking bike, haha ur right good mines do think alike :cheersaf: Did you see the guy who put the supercharger on his VFR? He painted his orange and black too, think were on the same wave length as him? haha :eyebrows: (Check the picture out)

And seidts i think i see where your going with that one haha and belive me i thought about it

Thanks! I've always liked orange (sorry this is not Clemson orange, nothing else is, is it?) This one is Mustang "Grabber" Orange. The color looks entirely different in the sunlight and does jump right out. I still have to choose the right graphics and will go with a large "HONDA' on the lower fairing (like the orange 6th gen you posted) and a small one on the tank (no need for 'wings" eh?). Then choose a "VFR' for the mid fairing probably in charcoal, probably 6th gen style.

I have Photoshop, but can't run the thing very well, so I decided to just do the changes on the fly, on the bike. Mistakes can get expensive using this technique.

Haha good luck with the Mods Wheee, it seems your plan as you go technique is working out for you pretty well so far.

Has anyone ever tried to paint a CF exhaust? I picked up a CF Micron at a price i couldn't refuse, so I'm kinda stuck with it now. I am very picky about having things match nicely, and I'm not so sure how the CF would look with the rest of the bike, and i have been trying to think of ways to incorporate the CF into the bike, and they i thought, why not just paint the exhaust? I don't know if this can even be done, and I'm prob gonna get flamed for even saying it haha but bring it on I'm ready. From what i hear the CF microns are warm to the touch after riding, and i know CF can be painted, so i dont see why it couldnt be done. A lite orange candy coat over top so the carbon fiber could still show through a little bit would even be sweet. Any Input?
