this is my first bike, so i have nothing to compare it to. basically whether i accelerate fast or slow, when i shift thru neutral up to 2nd, there is a nice 'thunk'. not quite like the thunk when u go down to first.. its a bit harder and sometimes i hit neutral because i hesitate while shifting that the thunk will break something. i pull the clutch in very good. there is no grinding. just worries me a bit. if i shift at a higher rpms (7+) i dont notice it. just wondering if its normal or just time for the FactoryPro kit

yea all bikes have a twitch here and there. Whats a pro kit? for what? I say if you haven't changed your oil do so with full synthetic and bleed the clutch, a lot of times it's in the clutch not quite releasing, if there's the slightest amount of power going through the clutch it won't unload the shift drums making it harder to do its job, most will force it through then you get,the ole clunk. just my opinion though, could be something else. just so happens this subject was just covered.

Maybe too good? Normally halfway for just an instant is enough. In fact, most of the time you don't need the clutch at all if you use the throttle right. The 1-2 shift is the only time I ever use the clutch and maybe half the time at that. Pulling the clutch in all the way and being too slow will make a really bad clunk for sure.

    Thunk. Chunk. Smooth? Click?

I have only ridden 70's and 80's machines. Test rides on modern equipment. All the old stuff, "bonks", into gear. Oil changes are often. Never used synthetic. I've always wondered if I'm doing the wrong thing. RPM's, engine sound, time of clutch disengage, time of clutch engage, ???? I don't really know. Have heard descriptions of what people do, but if it is not from a professional rider or a professional mechanic (and then you still need to listen carefully) then I just log it in the, "Some dude thinks..." file.

    The RedMenace is everywhere.
