Soooo, I have a couple folks that live around me with these things. One guy I have been seeing quite frequently in the morning on the way to work.

I am kinda neutral on this one...I mean, I would never take it over a (two-wheeled) motorcycle, but then again, it looks like it would be fun to take for a spin. Motorcyclist did not like it really, the handling and whatnot, but folks are saying it takes some time to adapt to the unique qualities of it....has a growing following...love it or hate it I guess!

It is way cool but, like you say, it's not a motorcycle. It doesn't corner like one. I think that three-wheeled Piagio would be a better choice for someone who needs the stability of three wheels, but still wants to be able to corner more like a motorcyle.

We have a local dealer that has one and allows demo rides. While it looks interesting I haven't had enough interest to try it out. I did sit on it and postioning was FJR like.

I think it would be better if they had motorcycle tires on it and allowed the body to lean like the "Piaggio" does. Still would love to take one for a rip though.

I found it handles more like a snowmobile than a motorcycle. Once you get into that state-of-mind (kinda hard when you can see green grass) its really fun to ride. I'd never buy one, but thats what friends are for... lending out their toys.

That is what I think of each time I see one.....I guess it is not that surprising considering it is made by Bombardier!

Seen a few of them around...would be nice as on ice you don't fall over....

Or am I the only one that goes riding on ice? would explain the looks( and cracked fairing).

Hmmm.... the ability to ride all year in Canada... I like the way you think.
I've tried riding the bike on ice too, not fun, unless you're on an old CZ.

Why not throw on some studded winter tires and ride 'er in the winter?
Imagine the looks you would get, decked out in full ski-doo riding gear, bootin down the highway!

In all honesty, the only way I could see myself on one of these is if ,heaven orbid,I got a serious injury and couldn't use my legs.

    Edit:
I also do a LOT of snowmobiling and I think the Spyder is cool from a snowmobilers perspective, but as a VFR rider, this thing does not interest me all that much.

I'm pretty much in agreement with everyone else. I'm not really interested in them but they are interesting machines. A guy that works in the same building as me has one and he loves it. I don't know what his riding background is though, this might be his first bike. Personally I prefer 2 wheels ;)

Aside from you "frequently" seeing a guy in the morning....... (jk)

The only reason I'd have one is if I lived where I had to worry about ice on the roads a good part of the year; and had a larger income. Otherwise, meh.....

Now that would be a machine worth thinking about. I know my wife would want one!

Awsome but you have no idea how tempted i am.

this would help a lot but looking for something more practical, just little studs like studded winter tires.

    Oh

If I had money to blow I'd get one. I'd imagine the insurance would be cheap(er), theft is a little harder, no low/high sides. On the other hand no lane splitting and for the cost... you might as well have a roof over your head, another wheel, AC/Heater, radio, etc. It requires a M endorsement to operate (in CA at least).

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm neutral as well. If I had every bike I wanted full modded to my taste and had to means to get something else, I would.

If you are gungho for winter riding where lots of snow and ice are involved, I would strongly suggest getting a bike that is a lot lighter....like an enduro or the like. Put some engine case guards on it as well (along with the studs). If you ride the Viffer....you will fall and break something. Supervfr just did that this week....wasn't pretty.

Oh i know, i have low sided due to ice. It is fun sliding around but you are right, the vfr is not for that. I also don't do that anymore.
    Wife won't let me.

The comments come from a desire to ride all winter...I just put my bike away and i am not happy about it.
