I have had mine at 100 mph indicated passing on a 2-lane highway in No. Cal.. Don't even recall what gear I was in. Why do you ask? How fast do you ride?

Shortly after I bought one of these brand new, Honda announced a box stock version did over 3700 miles in 24 hours averaging 155 mph on a large curcular track. 5 miles in diameter. I believe this record still stands. The had a whole bunch of pro riders trade off every 30 miniutes and for gas. I figured if a box stock bike could do this, mine could. Took it out to the track where they had Friday night drags. At 1/4 mile I was going about 110. I figured I still have 3/4 of a mile... why stop? I kept going and glanced at the speedo for a micro-second to see 150-155 and rolled off. The wind blast almost tore off my head as it rose slightly over the windscreen. WOW. Never again was over 130. Again ATGATT, on a racetrack. Too dangerous on a public road.

You can doubt it if you want but I got 159 mph out of my 5th gen. GPS confirmed! The engine is stock internally but had a good tuner and the right combination of bolt on goodies. My 6th gen was 142 mph. All stock save for the Staintunes. Same deal GPS confirmed!

06 all stock. Speedo said 240km/149 MPH. Was smooth as glass and I "felt" like there was plenty more. I just glanced at the speedo and did not look at the tach. But it was 03:00 in the morning and I was out driving my lights and ability to react in time to what may enter my view so backed down. I sure would like to take it out somewhere and give it the what fors just to see what it will do.

About 5 years ago I hit an indicated speed of about 140 on my 3rd gen on route 78 in PA, but as I went by an 18 wheeler, the air moved me over about 2-3 feet. I was 55 years old at the time and it scared me a good bit. Like others have said, at those speeds, anything that goes wrong means hospitalization. Hitting 110-120 doesn't seem to be too scary on my 86 and I still feel pretty comfortable there.

When my 02 was bone stock I got the speedo up to 130 and still had more to go. I had to let off cuz I wasn't comfortable with that speed (that and the fact that it felt like my helmet was going to come right off my head).

After mods(Motad headers, Micron cf exhaust, removal of emmisions equip, K&N filters, power commander IIIusb, dyno'd at 110hp, with 15/45 sprocs) I've been focusing more on acceleration than top speed. I haven't had her past 110 (with new V4 speedohealer at -17.3%), but I love the feeling of her taking off like a bat out of hell and lifting the front wheel with ease with first, second, and third gears. And I'm 6'3" and 260lbs. Have yet to try popping front up in fourth yet, usually by then I'm leaning forward pretty hard. I usually don't go faster than 90-100 anyway. Not sure what her top speed is with new sprockets, I hit VTEC at about 93 mph.

So? I'd rather take my chances, train and hone my skills to ride a bike that fast (or faster) and get my knee down routinely than live on my knees, riddled with fear and never experience the FUN of riding a bike flat out, routinely. I pinned and held the VFR 5x yesterday alone. What is living without risk? Why would anyone make a bike with that kind of performance if it wasn't meant to be used, experienced?

I have had my VFR up to 140 - 145mph and it did not feel like it had much else. My club brothers ride Kawi 636s and CBR 1k mostly, and they go as fast as 160 - 170mph. I try to go easy and usually cruise at 120mph on the open road.

Hey, I cannot disagree with you - it makes sense to go to the track for high speed action and to hone skills. I do get to the track and do some Clinics, but when touring on open road I pick my spots and go when I can go safely.

it goes fast. To tell you the truth, most tracks, top speed isnt an issue, it is acceleration. At least NHIS in new hampshire, I never get above 4th gear...

Im a track man now, nuts to showin off on highways, I like the corners and the line.

Fastest I ever went on it on the street was the first year I owned it, 154. Probably wont be doing that speed again anytime soon.

So putting that aside, how fast have you had your VFR on the road? Come on tell the truth, we all get a little crazy.

Top speed attained was 169 mph on road between Pamplona and Zaragoza in Spain on the way to the Moto GP in Valencia Nov 2007. The road was the AP-15. Supersmooth, super grippy tarmac, two lanes clear sunny day and not one car on the road. The best thing about the ride was that this wasn't a 10 second blast over 150mph, we caned it for about 35 - 45 minutes like this. It was a huge adrenalin rush. It sounded like a jet taking off inside my helmet though and gave me earache even though I was wearing earplugs. :)
