Well I got to say what a blessed day!

I thank God the weather broke and the riding was great!

Jeff and I pitted with betarace and his friends Steve and Austin. It was Steve's first time at the track and he did really well, it was fun dicing it up with him on the track!

Also met two4one and PARedVFRrider! Super nice guys too. Had a good laugh chatting in the pits at lunch. I'll tell ya, these two are no joke. Quick and smooth on the track!

I thought I'd start the thread so we have a place to post some pics so we can entice some other VFRW members into meeting us at the track!!!!! two4one talked about an all 'VFR Day"!

And an additional 'thanks' to betarace about hitting fifth gear before the bridge coming into the straight...that really helped!

It was an absolutely great day. The weather was perfect and I ended up meeting a lot of guys I had only talked with in email or on VFRWorld. I'm all for that VFR only day.

And yes BZ I was vey smooth till the second session of the afternoon when I managed to lay the old 600rr down....got a little agressive coming out of that added chicane on the backstretch and spun up the rear. Tried to ride it out, but nope wasn't going to happen. Down she went and needless to say we went for a slide and tumble. I came out better than the bike. I have a broken left thumb, it's busted in three places (I didn't think the thumb was big enough for that to happen). The bike however did a few flips from what I was told by Dale (CR) who was following a ways back. Tank took a hit, rear subframe, not to mention nearly all of the new Armour Bodies plastics I put on a few weeks ago! Great day...even with the crash though.....now I have a winter project to get the 600 ready for Jennings in January.

    indeed!!!

what a wonderful track day.. Good times and good people!!

sunday was about 20 degrees (or less) colder and got cloudy and "smelled" like snow was coming... driving home sunday night was very depressing in having to wait 5 more months for track season.

Dont know if we can get a "VFR only" day, but I would he happy to help organize a NESBA membership push and group ride at a track for VFR newbies. On sun there was a Gen3 (1990) that was out with us. The VFRs absolutely are very capable track weapons, even in pure stock form like mine. Was at the top 1/3 of the group and if it were warmer could have pushed much harder.

Make a new years resolution: do a track day. you wont regret it.

ps. Gen3 is faster then a Gen4 on the track. :vader:

This is pretty cool. Our little organization is starting to really come together. With all the meet-ups, group rides, and now group track days(on both coasts).
    Very Cool.

Well I'm happy to say I did not bring out a Red flag. I just got up after I stopped sliding and tumpling and looked at the bike, which was a bit off the track and then walked over behind the guardrail and sat and watched the rest of that I session. My ride back to the pits was in the back of the trailer and not the Ambulance, thank gosh! I probably delayed your second B session in the afternoon about 5 minutes for them to get me off the track!

Sorry I'm a little late getting to this thread. Very nice to meet you guys on Saturday. It was a great days sans Tom's get off. At least his spirit is not damaged, he was ready to go back at it right away!

In regards to an all VFR track day, I'll do some legwork and see what kind of fees we're talking about to rent the track for a day.

I'll contact VIR, NJMP, Summit...anywhere else? VIR might actually be the most accessible for a larger group of VFR owners. We'll see what I can find out and go from there. It might just be a pipe dream...

Summit Jefferson may be the most economical and practical if there are a lot of newbies.

    Two:

...or we can go with betaraces idea about pushing for a bunch of VFRW members to sign up with NESBA and we schedule our days together as best we can.

...or get a pack of them to sign up into "intro".

I love your idea, just looking for what would be easiest.

To be honest Steve, I kept trying to pick the best parts of the line up where the faster riders would leave me in the front, but I could keep away from the screamer-parkers from the rear.

I really like Thunderbolt. If you are faster in corners you can get away from them, especially on the back side of the track.

You, Jeff and Austin were taking off together weren't you?

I just wish pics of you would shoot afternoon only.

Well my thoughts regarding this mostly revolve around being on the track with the same bikes/mindsets at the same time. You have to agree that one of the things that scares a potential track rider is guys on liter bikes or new 600's with ZERO experience buzzing by them with no regard for life or limb. A common theme I have read on this site is that there is a fear of being spooked by other bikes and/or riders. That being said, the VFR crowd is by nature a little more, reserved maybe? More mature either in age or otherwise? (all evidence to the contrary right?). That's not a bad thing in my opinion, just the facts. What I'm saying is it's definitely not a group of newb R6 riders in their early 20's.

It would be great if we could erase all fears for someone who is on the fence about the whole thing. What better way to do that than to put a bunch of guys who already have something in common together? I will support track experience even if I just wadded my bike and I broke my back. The more people who gain the experience and subsequent skills the better the way I see it.

I think a poll may be in order? Would you attend an all VFR track day? If so, have you been on the track before? etc. etc.

FYI, I have emails into VIR, NJMP and Summit. Awaiting responses.
