Got my new VFR yesterday. After almost a 10 week wait!!!

Now I have to break her in and it is so so so difficult:mad:.

She keeps on telling me to go!!!

My body is yearning to GO!!!:bootyshake2:

    But my head say NO!!!!

If you have never broken in a bike how can you know the emotional and physical torture. Perhaps this is another reason some guys would buy a used bike!!! How can I survive another 450km at 5000rpm!!!

I need counseling!! Somebody please help!!!!!

You'll get differing opinions on this. Mine is after 20 miles have at it. Others swear by the book. Either way, you're best to do what your head tells you.

They way I broke mine in is, I drove it like I normally would, change the oil and do it again then change the oil and done. I believe in breaking a engine in on how your going to use it, then the engine is broke in to how you ride. Not granny.

Comon Scub, surely you cant believe everything you see on CNN?? Remember, I also am a Nigerian, and contrary to what you might think, we do not eat human beings!!!

I dare say that Nigerian are among the friendliest Africans. This probable is also the reason why Nigerian con men do so well.

But back to the subject, I think I will go with RVFR's recommendations. Infat I have already. Tomorrow I will rake up enough miles to carry out th first service. This method is very similar to the method for breaking in my Traxxas RC trucks.

    I'll keep you guys posted.

I remember the Nigerian Nightmare, I had more fun watching him run through the line like a big freight truck carrying players with him.:strong:

Agreed. The button right next to the temp guage. My '06 changes in 4 seconds.

Helloooo!!!! I my 08 just came in from Houston, Texas!!!

But your suggestions are only good for the mileage (miles to kilometers) but do nothing for the temperature units. And it does change in about 4 seconds. But even after 30seconds on the button, no change to the temperature units.

    Any ideas anybody!!

I'll look i up and get back to youu later. I am sure it is simple but I am on my way out the door right now. By the way, If money and time were no object, I would have my bike packed up and sent over your way for a tour of your area tomorrow. It would be facinating tour I am sure. Then it would be off to aother places like Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia and more. But I am too old to see it all now. Post some pictures sometime for us please

    Hey there Dad,

I couldn't find anything in my manual for the temp guage. Makes you sort of wonder why Honda didn't make the temp guage change with the others at the same time. Only makes sense to me.

    Will do.

Am off now on a short trip. I'll stop along the way and take some pictures for you guys to get a feel of the Southern part of Nigeria. At least the pasrt close to lagos. See you later.:party2:

And as for the temp, I understand Honda delibrately didnt allow the change so as to distinguishe between bikes meant for Canada and those meant for the US

I do not understand the concept behind braking in an engine.

A gasoline engine is a mechanical device. It will only operate in the fashion it was designed to do. weather it is 1 day old or a few thousand. How will taking it easy for a few miles going change how the philological behavior of the metal the internal components are made up of. Braking it in will not make the steel and aluminum metal stronger.

    Please inform me

The idea of breaking in an engine is a very long story with so many differing opinions!! The bottom line of it all is engine wear and tear. Just google it or run a check in wiki and see how the info stands up to yours.

Just got back from my trip. Had to cut it short cos I had a friend coming. Can you imagine how I feel now that I am home and he just called to tell me he is not going to make it:mad:

Any some picture for you. I'll give my opin of the bike later. Need to rehydrate meself:redface:

Guys guys guys!!!! What a revelation. HONDA, I love you for giving us the VFR:cheersaf:

How can I say what I like the most!!!

Is the the thuding sound of the engine??

Is it the VTEC kicking in??

Is it the confidence inspiring linked braked??

    Is the jaw dropping looks??

There are so many things. And they all add up to a great bike!!

Only two insy winsy little details. The riding position and the hard seat. I am 6 3 and after 150Ks on her, my knees started screaming and my butt's a hurting. But How could I get off her. The joy I felt quickly overshadowed the pain from the knees/ass and my heart just glowed!!

How can I express the emotions that this machine makes me feel? Is it normal for a man to have these kind of emotional responses for a machine???

I just can wait till she is full broken in, then she will show me all the things she has been whispering in my ears!!

    My VFR!!! OHHH My VFR!!!!:vanity:
