Hey all, I am a new proud owner of a '97 VFR. I just graduated from the MSF course and haven't ridden my bike yet. I bought the bike from a guy in FL and had it shipped to San Diego. It arrived and I couldn't get it on the center stand. It kept on sliding back everytime I would pull it back. I also couldn't get it started. I think I might've forgotten to turn on the fuel valve, if there is one. I couldn't located it so figured there wasn't one there. I had a buddy take my VFR in the back of his truck down to the shop where it's getting serviced. I'm going to ride it home for the first time and my first time riding a VFR. I think I'll stick to the streets since I've never ridden on the freeway.

Hi eth, congrats on your new (to you) vfr. The fuel valve on my 93 is on the left side and is covered by the seat. You haev to take the seat off and look under the tank on the left side to see it. I do not know if the 97's are the same, but I would presume so.

AS for putting it up on the centerstand, while facing forward grab the left handlbar with your left hand, with your right hand reach under and grab hold of the lift bar (near the left rear passenger peg (at least on mine), put your right foot on the centerstand where you would push down on it. Then pull back. Hope this was some help. For a better explenation you can PM viffergirl as this is how she does it.

I had trouble getting mine on the centerstand at first also. you just have to stomp the hell out of it while you lift and push back. it'll go. once you get it the first time, it gets easier. don't try it while sitting on the bike, though as that is a recipe for disaster! :)

I think that taking down while on it is easier for some of us, but I couldnt imagine trying to straddle it while putting it up.

It also helps to leave the bike in neutral. It took a while for a dim light bulb (me) to figure that out.

Well, he got the bike home. His foot slipped off the centerstand, the bike fell on him and he sold it the next day.
