anyone else watch this documentary? I actually enjoyed it. It's about these two guys battling for the record at Donkey Kong. It's funny how serious this is to these guys. I'm into retro gaming, but these guys are extreme.

On a side note, my MAME project is going pretty well.

MAME is multi-arcade machine emulation. Basically, you use an old computer to emulate old games. You get the actual ROMs so the game is as true as you can get to the old arcade without buying the actual arcade. I have a cabinet, control deck and computer. Once I get it all put together, I'll get a bezel made, have a light for the top to light the title, put it in my "gameroom" and have something to do to play on. I like old games because you can just play them for a bit without a significant time investment.... I probably have over 100 old games that I'll put on it. It's great cause it only takes an old PC and a few megs of hard drive to do it..

Well, I am nearing completion. I have 800 or so games that work although only a few I really play. I seem to play Donkey Kong Jr and Centipede the most. When I have people over we play Capcom (Coor Light) Bowling and Golden Tee since they are so much fun for a group esp with the trackball. Here's what it looks like right now. I am still trying to decide how to paint the sides....

well, I think I'm the only one reading this but anyway... I'm thinking of painting the side with some type of magic user sort of in manga style. We'll see I have been looking around trying to find something that appeals to me. who knows. Maybe I'll just do an old video game character or something. I always liked DK then there's Samus. She or he (whichever) is a badass.

I'll have to spend more time in the arcade next trip to Reg's Road House.
The JOUST crew kinda monopolized the machine when I was there.
I spent my time with the big white vending machine right next to it.

I watched it and thought it was very good. I was never into DK, but I did play a lot of other games back in the day. I thought Billy Mitchel was a dick, but he did sort of make the documentary, I mean without him, there would have been no drama and who would have cared about one guy going for the record? Who I really didn't like was his disciple Brian Kuh. He was a real jerk in my opinion.

You know. What I liked about the movie is that I felt like MUCH less of a nerd AFTER watching it... I do enjoy goofing off with my arcade cabinet and old ass games, though. It's funny cause we have a Wii inside and I'll go out in the garage and play old games and drink a beer and smoke a cigar and before I know it a couple hours have passed. I'm such a loser. ;)
