I was getting ready to exit off of I-66 like I normally do on my 99 VFR800, and in my mirrors I saw 2 bikes hauling ass and blew by me about a mile before my exit. They were both brand new 2007 GSXR-750 and a GSXR-1000. Well I figured I should at least let them know I wasn't a boat anchor with saddlebags, so I promptly down shifted and caught them on the ramp entrance ( 2 lane off ramp), and I took the outside lane and blew by both of them at full lean. They later caught up to me about 2 miles down the road, so I pulled over to have a chat with them. They had to know what kind of bike I was on and if it was a new model. That's when I grinned and said, nah it is a 1999 Honda VFR800 w/ 20k on the clock, and I am pretty sure I just showed you up in that turn on a 10 year old bike with saddlebags. I think they were pissed b/c they only knew how to go fast in a straight line.:party2:

Thought I would share that with you guys.

Very Nice! My son and I were in my truck when a new GSXR 1K blew by us on a two lane road near our house. The section we were coming up to has a set of three tight turns that you can take reasonably fast IF you pick the right line. I told my son, "Watch this guy, I'll bet he slows way down through these turns." Sure enough, mister I'll blow by at 80 in a 40 zone, slows down to about 25 for the turns. My son looks at me and says "Squid."

There's not alot more ways for some satisfaction on the planet knowing you just blew away a superior sport bike on an inferior slow ass VFR in the twists.

Good times. I mean as long as you did it in a safe, law-abiding, conscientious manner.

Ha ha, sure is fun showing that skill is always more important than pure horsepower! One time I went on a ride with a guy that has a 2007 Triumph Daytona 675. It's got more power AND is more lightweight than my 9 year old 1999 VFR. And before this ride this guy was saying this bike really hauls a$$ and was going on how he can smoke just about anybody. Well it came time to go for a ride and guess who was waiting most of the time? Me!

Anyone can flick the wrist but using proper throttle control, body position, etc... takes real skill.

Yes I am NESBA member and track day whore. And yes this post was a squidly one at that, but I thought it was funny. I did pass them in a safe manner, at only 20mph above the posted speed limit of 20mph :) I would have gone faster but the pavement is so horrible right there. Trust me, I don't do crazy riding on the street, I leave that stuff for the track where it belongs.:bootyshake2:

Were you at NJMP on September 15?

Someone had a RC-51, I think in I group, that sounded absolutley bad ass. Made all the Ducati's there sound weak. You could hear that RC coming around parts of the track. Just sounded...mean! lol. A real low angry growl is the best description. My friends and I loved it, but there were a couple RC-51's so we had a hard time figuring out who it was.

    BZ,

Well unless someone else has the Sato exhaust on their RC51 in the I Group, it was certainly me then. Was this on Summit Main I assume? Or was this down at VIR North recently?

If I had a dollar for everytime I've embarrased a squid or hog, I would be rich. It's never about HP, it's ALWAYS about the skill of the monkey holding the grips.

    KC-10 FE out...
