Okay so I had a stuck float, ripped off the carbs, cleaned them all out. Put everything back on with a little fuel system treatment in the gas (very minimal amount). Gas had filled my crankcase while the float was stuck because I had accidentally left the fuel valve open for TWO WEEKS! So the entire case had been exposed to basically pure gasoline for that time. Now when I run start the bike it idles and is pretty responsive but there is smoking coming from the exhaust and on the right side crankcase cover there is some oil leaking onto the exhaust manifold. Do you think the seals are gone on the case cover? I am thinking of buying new seals for the oilpan and side cover. Any idea why it might be smoking. Anyone have a good site for good OEM replacement parts. Bikebandit.com has some but Im not sure if i can find cheaper. Thanks :party2:

it could be smoing from the gas residue left in the exhaust ....when your engine filled the gas could most likey have made it all the way into and out of a couple of the cylinders, then down into the exhaust. when gas evaporates it leaves a varnish type residue. I am guessing that is what you see burning off. If that is the case it will burn off after awhile and quit smoking.

It's probably just that thinned out oil that leaked. Now that you have new oil (you DO have new oil in there, of course) it should go away pretty soon.

Your local dealership can beat any online source, you just have to ask them for a discount. The biggest problem is whether the parts are available or not! Discontinued parts from Honda is becoming a really big problem.

Thanks, I did put new 10w-40 oil in there. I can see gas leaking from the #2 float on the bike which means I am going to need to replace those seals. Anyone know where I can buy a carb kit with the seals I need?
