Since it's getting into a rainy season here in Georgia I thought I'd get some rain gear. At the local CycleGear they have MotoBoss rain jacket and pants: I've had them for a little over 3 weeks now and so far I have to say it's a good jacket for the price. I just wanted something inexpensive that would keep my leather outfit dry that I can also pack away into my tank bag or even under my seat. What's nice is that it has velcro straps on the wrist and neck area so you can button up keeping out the rain. Likewise for the pants it has elastic material that keeps rain out and won't allow ballooning or flapping around. The material breathes relatively well though riding in 90+ degree weather makes me sweat a little. That said, I'd rather be just a little wet than completely soaked. Another nice touch is it has reflective material on the jacket and on the pants and as you know riding in the rain decreases your visibility and every bit helps. I got to "try" it out three times in extremely hard raining. The kind where the rain is going sideways and the cars are going really slow. The only area that got wet was the back of my neck and that's the only area that wasn't completely covered by the helmet and jacket. I'll take that compared to looking like I just went to the swimming olympics. The quality though isn't spectacular, I'm already seeing a thread coming loose and the jacket zipper is extremely fragile. You have to treat the zipper as if it was an atom bomb that will go off if you breathe on it. Whoever came up with the zipper design should be shot, I'm not kidding. Overall I give this jacket a 6 out of 10.
Thanks for the review Joey! I bought a tourmaster rainsuit the other year. Don't need to use it much, but in the winter it is good insurance to have. I would like to have a water proof riding jacket too though. Hey, I thought our rating system was 6 out of 10 strippers?
yes, but we have ladies present and in keeping up with the spirit of embracing diversity and equal rights I just didn't want to risk a lawsuit. :lol:
