New from Nky/Cincinnati

I should probably wait until i actually find a viffer, but ill go ahead and introduce myself now. My names Dave, im a student/machinist from northern kentucky. Im 22 years young, started on dirtbikes at ~10, got a 96 fzr600 when i was 17 and have been riding a 2000 RC51 for the past 2 years. I just sold that bike and am on the prowl for a 2000+ VFR...I want something fun to ride but at the same time i can commute and go on long trips, obviously why i let the RC go...Seems like a very nice forum and hopefully my search goes well and ill be pretty active on here.

 

Welcome aboard, Dave. Was going to ask why you would do a silly thing like sell an RC51, but I kept reading. Good luck on your search.

 

Yeah, im not going to lie, it was sad watching the RC get hauled away the other day...That thing was a bull on rails, but killed me on long trips and wanting to commute to school and work. Seems like the VFRs are pretty elusive...trying to find one within a 200ish mile radius of cinci, arent many to choose from :unsure:

 

Hi Daver. Be patient and don't forget Craigslist Indy and Louisville. I looked for about 4 months to find thae one I have, and it was a sweet deal with lots of goodies. Went to Indianapolis to get it. Nashville also usually has a few also.

 

Yeah id been checking indy, louisville, lexington, etc etc lol. I didnt think about nashville though...Ive been looking on the forum here as well, theres a few that interest me but are ~400miles away I definitely wont rule out 98s or 99s either, just trying to have the same or newer year as the previous bike i had for some wierd reason lol. I really like the styling of the 02+ i think it is...seems like they gained some weight for that generation though.

 

My buddy at work found one here in Louisville a little while ago , an '05. I can't recall what he gave for it. Like anything, when you're looking they're all hiding, and right after you buy one there will be dozins for sale for less than you gave. Be patient, and look for one with lots of aftermarket goodies.

 

Yeah id really like to find a lower mileage 02+ with exhaust...love the way that v4 sounds.

 

WOOOOT! Picked up a 98 with 14k miles and micron exhaust. Has a few minor things ill get taken care of but the price was RIGHT. Ill post up pics tomorrow. Gotta get the insurance kickin in and tags and its riding time!!!!

 

Yeah a red 98...pretty common but meh. Love the sound of the v4, nice grumble but not overly loud, haven't been this excited about riding in a while.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, this is a great site, lots of information and from what i can tell a bunch of nice people.

 

So i took 2 quick pics today before i went for a ride...Coincidentally thats her good side lol. Theres a lil ding on the left side of tank, hangar damage in the previous owners garage...Other than that its pretty clean. After 120 miles on it today, I'm in love haha.

Just the micron pipe i believe. I plan on going through it a bit this weekend, maybe ill find a KN or other lil things. If i had to guess though, id say its just the pipe and maybe an aftermarket air filter...Thanks for the comments guys.
