Wasting time on the internet and found this. If this happened in the states that guy would be rich after he sued the police.

The info said he was a bank robber who had taken hostages. I say he got what he deserved. They were stopping a dangerous criminal.
Anyone here can sue for anything. Not sure if he would win though.

Don't they have guns? Why wreck a cage and a bike when they could have just shot the MF'r before he left.

The cop would have to clean his gun and write copious quantities of reports. This way it is just an accident report. Not a biggie. And it will be handled by a traffic man who can do far more in far less time anyways. :stickhorse: No court. Cops have beers with the guys after work. One less opportunity for a lawyer to get rich. Judges get to meet their tee times. Life is good. :llama::dance::pizza:. Man I love this stuff.

Yep, that guy was a criminal. He got what he deserved. F him. That was on some police show awhile back. I agree with Randy. Much less paperwork than shooting the jackass.

I understand playing devil's advocate I do it all the time but are you serious "maybe it wasn't him." They traded that guy hostages for a motorcycle. I think that's pretty conclusive evidence that he was guilty of taking hostages.

You know Danimal, I agree with you. And this is not a flame. One of the things the police protect in your country as well as mine and many others in democratic societies, is the right to an opportunity for due process. In this particular case, that due process would have started when the shit rat let the hostages go, and approached the police with his hands in a safe and none threatening place. Until that happens, then police do what they do, and usually quite well.

And yes, as you say, they make mistakes. They are human too. Except me. I never make any mistakes. I am perfect.

And hey Bud, Are you sure you are just playing the devil's advocate here? Maybe you are Satin himself planning on a come back to take over the world. LOL

BTW, I eat muffins. And at my age now...it is bran muffins

hah, due process. they went through the due process. the cops collaborated, asking each other "do you agree thats the guy who just commited that crime in front of EVERYBODY and took hostages in the process?" "yep" "ok, great. lets go f*** him up"

i only wish such swift justice could be dealt everywhere, and that our court system in the US wasnt so screwed up and geared toward whiney victims.

I would be willing to wager that if criminals knew there were no lawyers standing by to hold their hands, and only a quick painful end to their exploits were their only reward...there would be less stupidity.
I am not naive enough to think it will ever go away, and that brutality will ever cease. But, if dealt with properly, it can be diminished.

I hope you meant whiney accused's.

If you think your system is bad, you should take a long hard look at ours. At least you elect your judges. Ours are appointed. And it literally takes and Act in the Canadian Parliament to get one fired. They do not answer to anyone. And as I have said before, they are so far removed from the public in their sterile little worlds, that there is no way they can know what the public experiences, in order for the judges to satisfy the public interest when it comes to sentence.

The American way of justice has proved that to throw criminals in jail does not have a viable effect to change the criminal mind. I do not argue that point. But when the bastards are in jail, they are not raping our families, breaking into our homes, robbing our banks, selling deadly drugs to our kids and killing our loved ones while in their drunken stupor while driving their cars.

I believe in rehabilitation. It can work. But the people who are being targeted for re-hab must want it. This is no different than a substance abuser and re-hab in that venue. You cannot force re-hab on someone who does not acknowledge there is a problem, and are not willing to try to improve their lives.

Sorry for hijacking the thread. The video still stands for what it is. An example from another part of the world where there is no "F"'n around.

You have all been hit yet once again with "Randy's Rant" :soapbox:

I actually enjoy your rants, Randy. And no I'm not sucking up to the cops or nothin', even though I do buy the FOP stickers and put them on my car. You know what? They actually will get you a break once in a while. But they never have on my bike!

Fraternal Order of Police. A public service gruop of Policemen, one of the many things they do around here is support a boxing club. They really are a very good organization and deserve support. And officers like seeing that liitle sticker in your back window if you just happen to be operating above the posted limit.

Speaking of due process and criminals suing I'm reminded of a bank robbery that happened in North Hollywood. More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Hollywood_shootout

Basically these 2 guys bring enough ammo to supply a small country plus cover themselves with body armor and they get into a shootout with the police while attemping to rob a bank. The bad guys die and their family members actually SUE the city for neglicent homicide. Fortunately that case was thrown out.

I remember watching that on the news and imagining I was one of those cops down there. Emptying my pistol, shotgun, rifle whatever and these guys not stopping. WTF now. In hindsight, a well placed shot to the head would have ended this quickly and most police are quite capable of this, but I just can't imagine the adrenaline and panic that must have been going through these police officer's minds. That was serious shit man.

I bet a common comment at the end of that day was "It's Miller time!"

Yeah I can imagine the adrenaline seriously affecting their aim. Plus those bank robbers were spraying and they had armor-piercing bullets. The cops couldn't even find safe shelter behind their cruisers or even behind buildings. When you take that into account I'm sure it'd be hard to calm down take a breath and take careful aim.

And yes I'm sure the liquor stores were in business for a while afterwards!
