AMA Superbikes @ VIR

I am planning to go to the AMA Superbike Championship race at Virginia International Raceway, Aug 15-17. Anyone else going? It would be a great opportunity for some of us easterners to meet up. The first round of beer is on me!!!

These east-coasters are LAZZZY!!! I can't even bribe them with beer!!! I think I'm going to take the 'ole 83 ceptor up there. I don't want to leave the RWB sitting out in a motel parking lot for 3 nights. The old girl needs to stretch her legs anyway. Lots of pictures for sure as soon as I get back.

man i was planning coming out to it till i found out that an drift event in NJ that ive been waiting for is on that same date!.... however i do plan on going up to vir for the ccs bikes on sept 21st

Well, Friday is the big day. I'm going to take the "Ole 83". This will be a long(ish) trip for a 25 year old bike. Should be over 600 miles round trip. I've double checked everything I can think of. I was going to wimp out and take the ACE, but it just wouldn't fit in there. Also, the Interceptor is MUCH better at long trips. It is geared higher and takes sustained high speed a lot better than the ACE. I just can't bring myself to take the RWB because it would have to sit out in a hotel parking lot for 2 nights. Since it was a gift, I'd die if something happened to it.
If anyone else is going, let me know so I can buy you that beer I promised. BTW, If anyone sees a blue '83 Ceptor broke down on Hwy 58 in VA, STOP and give me a hand. Wish me luck.

You guys missed out BIGTIME!!! The ride to VIR was GREAT!!! Hwy 58 in VA is a great road. We rode slab to Marion, VA. Then took Hwy 16 to Troutdale, VA where we hit VA58 which took us all the way to Danville (closest town to VIR). Here are a few picts fo the trip and racing.

Thanks for the pics. Saw the races on TV. Some big get-offs. Good racing. Did you get any remarks on your bike?

 

Yeah, There were quite a few "Cool, old school" Remarks. I am proud of it. It made the trip in full Honda style. Not a miss or even a hard start. We were running pretty hard getting there and on the way back, too.

 

my father was there.. the Grey Tuono.... i didnt get a chance to watch the races on TV what did i hear about some kid dieing and another one being medivac

 

I didn't see or hear anything about it, but it is a BIG place.
