I am curious to wonder on far would most VFR owners would ride to annual regional VFR convention. If the area was a prime riding destination, I would probally ride up to a 1000 miles. How far would you ride and would you attend such of an event?

1000 - 1500 miles would be reasonable, that would be something that could be acheived over two days making the whole trip a 6-7 day tour (2 out, 2 there, 2-3 back)

I would like to attend some type of VFR event. I think 1000 miles is a stretch, but doable. I think 500 would be hard to pass up though.

I would agree that 1000 miles might be a stretch, at least for those of us who are not used to long distance riding. That said, I, like ZonaMan, would love to attend a VFR meet. Though since we are spaced widely across the nation, not to mention world, we might have to have more than one event.

I think I could do 500 but Im not sure about 1000. I was thinking Vegas would be good since it's about 6.5 hrs from me. ;) Plus there's always something to do. I have actually been toying with the idea of doing it myself just for fun. The weather is always warm and there is plenty of lodging. Plus, isn't Hoover Dam really close? Do they do tours of that where they tell you interesting stuff?

    That Would Be Great

Wow A Vfr Convention Would Be Great..im Coming From Delaware So I Know Any Destination Chosen Would Probably Be More Than A 1000 Miles, But I Have A Huge Motorcycle Trailer And I Would Be Willing To Pick Up Some Fellow Vfr Owners On My Way. If They Also Have A Long Distance To Travel.

I Just Would Like To Be Around People Who Appreciate The Vfr Just As Much As I Do!!! Ive Seen A Total Of 4 In My State..

So If Its Going To Be Done Count Me In....

In response to the question of how far to ride, I am lucky to have found the following- Local riders forum, Thread PNW VFR owners, specificly #44 & 45. When I saw this I jumped at the opportunity and have a room booked and am looking forward to this road trip under 350 miles.

A Viffer meet does sound like a lot of fun. What about meeting for a VFR track day? Something like a 2 day ride to get there would be cool. I'm in Ohio so out West is a bit long...

I would think anything in the mid-west U.S. would be doable for most in North America. Except for coastal areas shouldn't be more than 1500km. Couple days going couple there, couple back. Doable!

I figure there are several biker events all around US that very popular. Sturgis caters to the Harley/custom cruzier/ chopper crowds, the Honda Hoot is popular to all facets of motorcyclist. Why can't there be just a VFR convention. I have almost riden all the states and seen some wonderful areas to ride.

If you think this is a great idea, where would be the idea places to meet? Somewhat close to me, I understand that the Ozarks mountains in Missiori has some fabulous riding. I have riden eastern portion of Tennesse during the Honda Hoot and it has some excellent roads there that I will most certainly return to enjoy once again. Canyonlands NP has some incrediable roads with awesome scenery. I know most VFR owner would love to do a ride with other VFR owners, but since we are all scattered around the world it is not practical to just meet in one spot. That is why I suggest several spots that many of us would be able to take advantage of.

If you like this idea, let me know. If you have the perfect spot pick out, let me know. You never know, this could be something big.

1000 would be about right. Can be done in a single day, and you even get a saddle sore out of it.

My '86 VFR and I would be in for anything within 500 miles of southern Wisconsin. Destination would need to have curves and hills, no droning 3 hour flat ride.

1000 miles in one day? That's 15-20 hours ON THE BIKE without resting. You are crazy yellowveefer!!! You couldn't even walk when you got there and wouldn't want to go ride anything. LOL:confused:

I would do Vegas too, but only between October and March. Too hot otherwise.

    Birmingham area.

Birmingham has Barber Museum and Track, 29 Dreams MotoResort, and the Copperhead(Hwy 25). A great place for a convention.

We're only 2500 mi. from LA, but 500 mi. away from most of the civilized world!

I would definately be up for a 500-600 mile ride to somewhere. I'm on the Jersey Shore, it would be nice to see a place midway. For alot of us to get together. West is kind of out for me. Plus some of us can't get more than a week off from work. How about one on the west coast & one on the east coast at the same time? Hmmmm
